Have you any bad experience buying a used car and finding the mileage meter (odometer) manipulated to give a much lower reading? Please share your experience. Is this a common problem in Malaysia? It is a common problem in Western countries with advanced technology. Are Malaysian Used Car sellers tech-savy enough to roll back odometers?

It's already very common as well here, cause it's very easy to do using a special tool. How do you think all those 3-4yrs old recon cars only having 15-25k on the odo?? If high end supercars may still makes sense (cuz they're not used daily) but if just normal cars, it's too good to be true right?
So when buying used/recon cars, just make sure the condition and spec is still good enough for the price offered. If the condition is very good that it roughly matches the low mileage, then it can be that odo is still not tampered or at least not so much reversed. If the car still has the original service booklet history record which matches the mileage, then it's even better. But if the car already looks pretty used up but still showing low mileage, then definitely does not make sense already.
