Yeah, GT series are supposed to provide gamers with the experience of driving a real car, otherwise it wont call itself "the real driving simulator" (duh.....)

well, for drift pointers you can always check gtplanet.net for pointers and stuff. The drift setting provided inside the website is also quite good and also nice GT drift videos. (I think you have already known this website, based on your intro in DCM)

The videos above(i have not seen them but i have posted their link before in DCM)are actually japanese gamers drifting with their DFP controllers. I dunno but it will be nice to see more videos that are produced using the good old DS2 controllers as i think it will encourage more people to drift using GT4.Not everyone is able to afford a DFP controller.

For those who want to see more new videos produced by these japanese fellas can go to this website:http://overdrift.hp.infoseek.co.jp/movie/movie.top.htm#-movie-

Right now i am concentrating in drifting using Enthusia.....

yeah gtplanet was great, its almost the biggiest GT database in the net. ermmm acctually i think that its posible to drift with using DS2. but it just will takes times, duno la, i just feel its posible to be done. because last time when i play GT3, i feel that "nah, it wont posible to be drift with using DS2, steering wheel is only the way" but walla i done it. i am not want to show off or want to ads my self la, honestlly i can drift quite well in GT3 just using DS2, and i think that its also posible to be done in GT4

ok la hope i really can done it, and if times and money allow me, i will buy a video capture card and capture my druft vudei and post it in net. yeah and also here too.

so acctually do u drift in GT3?

Drifting with DS2 is possible, and right now i have been practicing more and more often....as matter of fact my left thumb is swollen due to those practices......haihz......

I missed GT3 because i was in a boarding school when it came out.....those few years i was grounded in the school all the time and therefore I had little time to mingle with games...

But I started drifting GT series ever since playing GT2 using my PC (running on emulators). Some people say that amongst the GT series, GT2 is one of these titles that can't really drift. I drifted some of the cars at Laguna Seca, with almost stock settings. Therefore as now in GT4, many people also complained that it is also not easy to drift compared to GT4.....but somehow i believe this can be overcome, by practice, practice and still practice......

I am more of a "show" drifter rather than a "racing" drifter. Many videos I see are most on "racing" drifts, meaning letting the car to drift but with the intention of getting a faster time going through corners.

I myself still stick to low HP cars to drift, prefering to keep them as stock as possible.

wow, the amuse s2000 driver can really drft!!!!!!!!!!!! got to check out gtplanet on the s2000 setups

acctually any FR MR and 4WD also can drift, and even some good skilled drifter can drift the FF. its more easy with GT3, yeah really easy. GT4 is a lot harder, i have saw some of the japanese website said that " its required to have a REAL CAR drifting skill to make the GT4 drift posible " suprise? and forget to tell ya, its driften by japanese dude, i think i wont find any setting yet in gtplanet.net that will perform that well like those japz. from my oppinion, this time skill is more important, setting is just help u to be better.

aikes, are u using the X and the Square button and the D-Pad to drift in GT4? or analog stick? how come will swollen? ermmm hehe time to share my oppinion :P i use my left and right analog stick, left to steer, right to gas and brake. and manual gear full time comfirm. i never found out that my finger have pain o, eye is more pain than finger hehe.

yeah GT2 was hard to drift, u know why? ermmm correct me if i am wrong la, i feel that GT2 is more real than GT3 la, cause GT2 got heavy understeer, car bumping due to too soft or too hard suspension setting, over setting of downforce will cause bump and so on. GT3 doesnt have all that thing ( compare with Race Car la like Altezza LM, S2000 LM and so on ) i feel GT4 its just an upgrade from GT2 and not GT3. yeah practice makes your drift charm day by day :) keep up the good work dude.

in GT3, i was the speed drifter but Simulation Tyre all the way ( yeah its the most spliperlly tyre in GT3 ) even all stock cars can have a full long drift with this tyre.
i fight my drifting time to get it faster cause i think shorter time means smoother drift ( less adjustment, took the right/fastest line, and minimum mistake ). acctually the video that i post to this thread, i feel that they are doing show drift, just this time i feel that GT4 tyre, torque was diffrent, and it makes the drift hard to be adjust, if u got play GT3 then u will know, GT3 will have a longer high torque rpm to play with, even u enter with low rpm, u can play it up high, over speed due to speeding back. ermmm duno la, i also duno how to explain, video are the only way :P hehe got chance i show u guys my drift in GT3 and GT4 la :P

Well, for myself I usually use the right analog to steer and the 4 symbol buttons to break, accelerate etc. But lately due to the swollen thumb I am training myself to use the D-Pad to steer the car.

I too agree with your explanation regarding GT2, it really takes time to perfect the drifts in it and GT4 is an upgrade to GT2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle'
alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah, usually in GT3 I do see people like to throttle play alot, but not really in GT4......erm......maybe there is a rev cut? kekekekeke...

BTW, i have posted some personal pics and a short, crappy video of GT4 in DCM (drift.com.my). You can check on them. Opinions, comments and criticisms are welcome.....

right to steer? aikes, left isnt? heheh u so kengz use both hand on one side of the controller ar haha. acctually i use both analog stick with no problem now. and haha it takes me 2 weeks to suit into this ( also inclued training using manual gear la )

ermm yeah i also notice this la, in GT3 i also using this skill ( play throttle alot ) u found out that its hard just to maintain the throttle cause it will cause spin or understeer without know its going to happen. so i use the throttle on off oftenlly to fix this problem, and yeah in GT4 it doesnt makes any good, it will just ruin your drift. the main problem we will face when using this skill is when we exit the conner, will happen to be counter too much and hit the side we pointed to. example like when u taking the left one and counter to right, throttle on off too much will cause u hit the right hand side wall. yeah it also took me weeks just to practice to maintain the throttle and the optimum level. but suprise, after i practice, i went back to GT3 to drift, haha my drift time is alot faster and smoother without fail. ( its almost 2 second faster )

hmmm talk so much, i so wish to brought a video capture card la, cause i want to show and give proft for what i am talking. and hope i will attract more people to start drifting in GT3/GT4.

Opps, typo error...it should be left....so sorry......very tired yesterday after the DCM TT session.

Yeah, throttle control is important...just like Keng said in DCM, I am now trying to discipline myself to look at the throttle bar(the one which is at your left hand side on the screen) while drifting....wow, looks like I need to have few more eyes just to be in control while drifting in GT4.....kekekeke

Regarding about left to right thingy, are you refering to feint method?

hmmm acctually i also kind of intersted to join more TT meeting eh, but haihs no cars, i join liao also no topic to talk about la. all i have eh is just theory in the game.

yeah, kind of, but its a UNWANTED feint. when u counter steer, play throttle and exit, sometime u will end up hit the way u counter steer.

ermmm now i am practicing the maintain throttle skill, but is it really need to watch the bar mer? hehe i just use my feeling and the SOUND of the car to judge it.

so what drift machine u using anyway?

well, the drift machines that I usually use are mostly the ones in the video: Mazda RX7 FC3S, Nismo GT-R LM Road Going Version '95,Mercedes SLK Kompressor ,Toyota Levin and Mazda MX5.

Of course all the while I have been using my feelings and the reaction of the car to react to different situations....but some ppl in gtplanet.net said that keeping an eye on the bar also helps....well, no harm trying.....

yep, hmmm each people got each oppinion la, the most important is the get faster or drift nicer hehe. video huh, where is it?

On my post at DCM there. There are 2 videos already....very crappy ones...kekekeke

The first video that I ever made

The is the second video that I made

I must say that I am very sorry for the video quality as I do not have any video catching card nor any camcorders with me.....all I had was a crapy webcam and I recorded them down using it.....

Any comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcomed <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle'

better than me la, got nothing but just a big lousy mouth haha

btw its nice video, finally i found a guy that does drift in GT4. wanna cry liao :~~ hahaha

drfters unite!!!!

yeah drifters unite!

i dunno why i was so late to know about drifting! when i have the PSone, i dint even know what is drift..then, after i sold it, suddenly i realized that why did i sold it!! damn! it must be the PS2 offers... damn! must get PS2 to start drifting!!

farique:

while waiting for your PS2, may i suggest you to use Emulators? while they are quite safe actually(i mean for PSOne version, not for PS2)and i think that satisfy your lust to drift for a while.....I was doing that too before I got my PS2...

or..

You can play Daytona USA arcade....kekekekeke......just shift lock from 4th to 2nd gear for every coner and countersteer....hahahaha

just my 2 cents worth of advice...

namzy,
dun worry...we are here to help each other, besides after playing Enthusia and Midnite Club 3:Dub Edition for a while, i got back to GT4....nuthin beats GT4...really

lil_joker, rite now, i'm drifting with LFS.. thats quite satisfy for me.. and maybe you guys should try it out too.. the graphics cant beat GT4 la.. but still worthy to play it since its a real driving simulator just like GT4! :D
