mohdkhairulfaizal,
Both are great product but for spare/aftermarket parts, Mitsubishi much more source-able/variety.
Maintenance wise all the same...

This topic has been discuss several time.
End of day depends to the buyer what are they looking for into both cars.

Maintenance, EVO wins.
Power, EVO easier to make more power, Subaru a bit harder compared to EVO

Advantages.. hmm.. EVO got Recaro. In most (not all) lap times, EVO laps a wee bit faster than the STi.
EVO achieves its handling prowess with electronics. STi achieves it with symmetrical AWD and some electronics -- EVO has more sophisticated electronics.. S-AYC, S-ACD.. actually its quite amazing what EVO can achieve with its non-symmetrical layout.

But in Malaysia, owning an EVO can give you heart attack.. cause people love to steal it.

Both cars are good, they just do it differently.

The never ending battle between the scoobys and the Evos.

Evo9 imho is newer than the Scooby V9. Evo9 was designed to be more hardcore compared to the 8 and 7.

Scooby V9 is probably the 2nd best looking Scooby ever made but are you talking about the WRX version, the S203 or S204? Depending on your choice kitting is different.

Both drive (on normal roads with normal driver) like a dream and both make nice noises (praaang pshhh vs rumble burble psshhh)

Both are pretty comfortable (I suspect the 9 is a little more on the harsh side with the suspension being so hard. But comfort is relative and also depends on which Scooby you looking at).

Both cost about the same money (again depends on which Scooby)

Both cost a handful to maintain

Both are thief magnets

So essentially it's all up to you. Test drive both and find out which floats your boat. If you keep insisting on people to tell you what to buy I would tell you to forget both and go buy a Audi RS4. But that costs way more.

I've searched and read before several EVO VS WRX STI topics at here before. From what I've learned from replies here, most of them are
Lancer Evolution
-Easier and cheaper to modify than the Impreza WRX STI
-Easier maintenance and service (straight 4 engine vs flat 4)
-Seems to be faster at straight roads
-I've also heard that Evo clutch worn out quite fast (not sure about Impreza WRX STI)

Impreza WRX STI
-Unique and nice boxer sound
-Better handing at corners compared to Evo
-Price usually are slightly cheaper than Evo
-Frameless doors (GC8 and GDB only)

I think EVO outperforms an Impreza man.
I have seen a lot of races, even OEM(Stockkk) ones.
Somehow, Evo has a better durability in the heat and better in the corners.
They tested in Japan. Not sure how they dealt with Malaysia weather though.

Scoobies....are special! I'm considering Ver.8...relatively cheap around 80-95k. Maintenance by AE specialist is not cheap but with piece of mind. Evos are as they say, widely sourced

From now onwards, I shall never underestimate motorcyle riders because they might be having an Evo or Impreza WRX STI at home like you.

By the way, which evo you are driving?

Depends on which generation of evo vs which generation of WRX STI.
However, I think that in Japan, sales of Impreza WRX STI are more than Evo. I'm not too sure but I've watched a lot of self recorded car video by the japanese at you tube. I find that there are more videos of Impreza WRX STI compared to videos of evo. Maybe the japanese prefers Impreza more? I dont know...

For me, I'd surely choose Evo IX because:
1. Engine is more conventional and should be easier to maintain.
2. Most std comparison head-to-head of the same generation, Evo almost always is faster be it in straight but especially in the corners as it can turn sharper while the WRX tends to understeer more.
3. IMHO Evo looks way much better cause I don't really fancy the V9 wing and grill even though not too bad and much better compared to earlier version 7 & 8. My fav Subaru is actually the old version especially the 22B STI.
4. For me, Evo IX front seats also fits better & looks much better even though the rest of the interior lost to the WRX. But the driver seat is more important than the rest especially for a driver's car like this.

Evo IX is simply still one of my dream car. If only my wife approves. :(

All this might change though when the new WRX V11 later come out. :)

The one in bold, not really true also. Evo also still faster in corners most of the time.

both r nice car, u will have hard time to decide.

if u wanna get subaru, get at least the spec C version, the sti is too common.

for evo 9, since this is the 1st production of evo + mivec, some said it got problem some said none.so i dunno, if u love the mivec turbo, get the evo 10. SST is fast enuf on street, with stage 2 upgrades. it perform even better.

i do have evo n subaru GC8 version 3 and GDB version 9. they all got its unique characteristics....so its hard to tell which is better.

Yeah, I also don't like the Evo X, really don't like the look as well. To me the IX is the last of the great Evo.

SST? The 5 speed manual in Evo X is better isn't it? Best motoring showed 5MT is faster than SST in Tsukuba.
