I wanna share my experience.

I was also facing to a same problem. At the morning from P to D or 2 needed to wait up to 3 min for engaging the gear.

I used the K&W trans-X and the gear engage with NO DELAY.

Try it, guys.
any way it cost me 25 RM on FEB 6 at PJ 3.099761, 101.640937

man, i finally solve my morning gb lag problem that had been troubling me for a year.

Same symptoms, every morning shift to D and waited 30sec, then 1min, 2min, 3min and got longer and more often as long as i stop the car between day time (nissan grand livina 1.8 auto). Tried replacing ATF, transmission flush with no luck. Tried with Lubegard platinum (both red cap and black bottle) still don't help (these things are expensive Rm90 each). Almost given up and go with gearbox change, finally got to know this k&w trans-x (RM25/each), pour into my gb, start the engine and a drive, still lag. Stop the engine and waited for an hour later, restart engine and try to engage D, and WoW...i got the instant response from the gb. It has been 2 days after using k&w and the gb lag problem disappeared completely. i bought it from the same sparepart shop near PJ hilton. Will definitely go back and buy more in my next ATF change. Thanks CMCT0819 for sharing!!

I am a Nissan Sentra car owner with a similar gearbox problem, I have recently (on my last car service) used the K&W Trans-X automatic Transmission Slip-Stop & Leak Fix by CRC Industries after recommended by my regular mechanic. But the gb problem still persist and I am now trying the Lubegard Platinum.

My question is, is it okay to just replace these additives one on top of another, though I have drained the old oil (without replacing with a new oil filter since it was just replaced on my last oil change).

Can anyone kindly reply.

Jay

Using another additive is just trying your luck only. Should have added for protection rather than to cure.
Anyway, even when you do a pan drop oil change of the ATF there are still oil in the hoses, torque converter, etc. Since already having problem with the gear box just do the drop oil change and add the Lube Guard additives to see if it helps.....

How long ago was the filter changed? 20k km? 40k km? If 40, time to change a new one. I would prefer you to completely flush out the old oil and fill with fresh oil.

i try TRANS X SLIP STOP on my 2005 N16,the problem was gone totally!
Thank for the information.

Tangsn, did you get your TRANS-X in Penang? Where? How much did you pay for?

Any luck getting it in Penang?

For those who successfully solved Nissan gearbox problem with TRANS X SLIP STOP, please help to answer the below questions:

- If I add TRANS X SLIP STOP everytime I change gearbox oil, will this solve the problem permenantly?
- If not, how long will it lasts
- If I replace new gearbox, how much?
- Is it my driving skill cause the gearbox problem?
- what should I do to avoid gearbox problem for my next car?

Thank you

- Additives are only temporary. But then again it depends on the cause of the problem. If it's slippage due to worn parts, then it'll only be a matter of time before something breaks. If it's just because rusty or sludge, then additives might solve the problem permanently. But I don't recommend using it for every change, just whenever you have problems only.

- New gearbox for what car? New or recon? Or repair/service? New will set you back RM13k and above easily. Recon probably RM4k to RM8k depending on availability of the parts. Service/repair depends on your issue. Probably minimum RM1k.

- As long as you change the gear oil and gear filter on schedule, the gearbox should last the lifetime of the car. In some cases adding a gearbox oil cooler will help lengthen the lifespan. Depends.

- Your driving skill will affect the gearbox to some extent. If you are doing launch control (rev in "N" then suddenly engage "D" at 6000 rpm), then prepare for early gearbox death. If you are driving "N", "D", "N", "D", and "P" only - no problems la. Except if it's CVT. If CVT, don't keep shifting it to "N". Once you are in "D", leave it until you park or stop for a very long time, then use "N". The CVT belt/chain will wear out faster if you keep engaging the gear like that (D-N-D-N, etc)

- Use the right oil type based on the manufacturers recommendation. If it says to use SPIII then use SPIII. If it says Dexron 3, then use Dexron 3/4 (4 is backward compatible). If it says NS2 CVT oil, then use NS2 CVT oil. Don't be a smartass and mix and match. Honda CVT oil is not compatible with Nissan NS2/3 CVT oil. etc. Toyota type-IV oil is not the same as Dexron 4. The old Honda City model had a lot of GB problems because owners kept using the wrong ATF. Honda CVT oil isn't cheap so owners swapped to cheaper oils (cuz cheaper) and that killed the GB much faster than normal.

But then prevention is better then cure and as you mentioned may not help in some cases after it have been damaged.
As for the Lubegard I am using, first round one bottle, thereafter can use half bottle.....

Personally I wouldn't use it every change. Maybe at most every 3 changes, not every change.

My friend had some problems like jerks during transmission shifting, he solved it by adding to transmission oil an oil additive that is specifically for automatic transmissions, called Resurs Total AT. He said it was super effective and solved all his problems literally after several minutes
