balancing and lightening is normally done concurrently.. the reason for lightening is to reduce unspung weight in the engine so that ur engine can rev up faster whilst balancing act to balance up ur crank, conrod and pistons.. the rational is same as wheel balancing.. if ur wheel is inbalance, u will feel it vibrating at high speed.. for engine internals, vibration = more wear and tear.. therefore the reason for balancing is to reduce vibration and makes ur engine more free revin.. properly balanced engine can be rev up 9 9 with less worries..

Estimation only arr.....

Potong crank (pisau style) = 150
potong conrod = 40 x 4 = 160
potong flywheel = 40
potong piston = 60 x 4 = 240
potong cylinder head = 60
Balancing = +-700

other cost:
overhaul gasket set = 250
some extra oil seals = 150
New clutch set = 400 to 1800 (Depends on what brand larrr..)
New lubricant = 40 to 200
New transmission oil = 30 to 200
Power steering fluid = 20
workmanship = 400 to 700 (Depends on which workshop u send).

if efi engine:
minimum SAFC = 800
or e-manage = 1200
tuning cost = ????
Dyno = ????

if turbo:
turbo porting & clipping = 700

if carb:
tuning =????

Hidden cost:
Drinks = ???? Don't know how much u need to drink while bikin sebok at the workshop.
Fare/petrol = Bus/Taxi/pinjam kereta

U got the picture?

the cost for balancing alone is about 5xx-7xx, provided u dismantled all the stuff and the shop only do the balancing job.. if involve lightening than diff story already..

then come the other cost for changing bearings, gasket etc..

Hmm engine balancing ar? Factory engine already excellent without any need of balancing, for upto its normal operating range (6500RPM). To push stock engine originally designed to rev upto 6500RPM and going towards 8000RPM and above, that's where balancing,lightening & rebuilding comes into place.

Personally I'll stick to 8000RPM at most, going above 8000RPM will make ur car no longer suitable for normal driving.

Not worth la...
if you want play NA, no choice bai... every horsepower count

if i were to transplant a new engine into my car cuz balancing and lightening is too costly.. i'll probably balance and lighten the transplanted engine too :lol:

now days with high tech machinery , the stock engine from the factory are balanced pretty well already . like taqu said , unless you're looking forward to make the engine rev higher then the stock specs then you may balance the engine .

Most of the NA engine very heavy. Thats why needs to do balancing for smoother & lighten. Fuel comsuption as well too.

After 2-3 years ur engine doesn't seems like good.

if you want more engine response and free more rpms, engine balancing is the way to go.

please...please do this when you are rebuilding or overhauling your engine...not open up simply to balance.

lightening and balancing is a diffrent process. so...get your parts lightened first before balancing it.

as a balanced engine user...every penny spent is worth the effort. ;)

Hi fellow tuners,

Any advise, as i was thinking of replacing the cip on my h22a ecu. But 1 thing confuses me is that my unit is different from the BB models.

I took my engine from a CD6 halfcut, and my ecu was of different manufacture. is there any chance to replace the chip for better responce or reprogram?

Or would a vtec controller do the trick?

Than'x.
