After a few days surveying, studying, comparing, etc etc, i've come to some decision on what are the suitable high profile camshaft that suits my driving, style, need, mod, etc.

Here are the options that has been narrowed down:

1.HKS Intake 272 10.8, Exhaust 278 11 (From 2011 HKS Catalog)
2.HKS Intake 272 10.8, Exhaust 272 10.2 (From 2010 HKS Catalog)
3.Tomei Poncam Intake 260 10.7, Exhaust 260 10.2 (Current)
4.Tomei Procam Intake 270 11.5, Exhaust 270 11.5 (Current)

Basically, option 4 is abit out, so just consider about 1,2 and 3.

My preference:
-Street and daily drive.
-Able to idling properly with air-con and cold start.
-Targeting below 450whp for now and future. Of course installing this high camshaft won't be able to get that high yet, but just to point out that i won't be actually modifying this car until that kind of whp. Step by step :).
-Currently using OEM evo9 turbo, planning to boost 1.5 bar with this camshaft with reflashing ecu and some supporting mod.
-Planning to change Garrett GT 30 or 35 or similar in the future.

Suggestion and advice needed on which of the camshaft are suitable for now and future mod. I hope i can get the best choice out of it so it won't need me to change another one next time for my next upgrade.

Your help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Danz: didn't plan to go for a major mod on engine part as i use my car daily for work, here and there..

pomen: was planning to use it without changing valve spring or retainer, means plug and play will do...and also, heard few not good feedback from friends and ppls, so....hehe

Anyway, I've searched almost every places for the hks 272 in/ex and couldn't get any. All of them are offering the new 272/278 cam. I read somewhere in other web saying that the hks 272 ex for evo 9 are actually same with evo 8? If this is true, then I can buy the evo9 272 in and buy evo8 272ex? Can someone clarify this pls? Thanks

Can someone who has purchased the 272/272 camshaft last year and give me the product code?
Evo8 Exhaust 272/10.2 22002-AM004

If the Evo9 Exhaust 272/10.2 (2010) is same with the above, then it should be right.

I've read through some other forums stating that the HKS combo 272's In 10.8/Ex 10.2 doesn't really help much on the e9 because of the exhaust cam. Even with a single exhaust cam, it doesn't really help much either. Was thinking is this because of the reason that HKS produced any 272/278 combo with higher lift 11 instead of 10.8?

Can someone who had installed the HKS 272's set advise please?

I actually wanted to order a set of the HKS 272/272 10.8 10.2 from a local shop. Then the guy who worked at the shop poisoned me with the tomei procam 270 11.5. And surprisingly the tomei seems cheaper than the HKS even the tomei comes with valve spring set. And he told me that i won't get enough using the HKS, so better use tomei directly.

The only thing i need to know is the idling for the tomei procam 270 11.5. does anyone or everyone manage to idle properly with this set of cam?
