I used to use Wynn's Super Engine Flush which works ok to maintain cleanliness if no hardened sludge yet. But if already got hard sludge then it's difficult. May try DCS product for but I don't think it can clean much too. You may need to do several rounds of flushing.

If you have the budget, consider buying Royal Purple to flush. Use the RP oil for about 1000km then swap it out with your own choice of oil. But if you've been using mineral oil for a long time, prepare for oil seal leaks. RP detergents is pretty aggressive

yes, i also read that RP is damn good for cleaning. but it may clear up the sludge and cause leakages. so if u r using RP, its good but must be prepared to seal the leakages.

I use this before, it is very strong. It flushed all your leakage, what happen after I flush? White smoke.. Advise from Spoon guru, better don't flush your engine.

if i read correctly, oil flushing is only needed when changing between "fully synthetic" oil and "semi-synthetic" @ mineral oil. This is due to fully syn oil composition which is purely chemical base and does not react nicely with the other type of oil (semi-syn and mineral).

Erm.. I'm not sure about the chemistry part but I've never had issues with swapping between semi and fully syn. It was mineral that screwed me up initially because of the deposits that were cleared off that caused major leakages.

From my own understanding, we flush to remove deposits, sludge and whatever that's not supposed to be in the engine. Sludge deposits can and will clog your oil pump / sump / filter and probably do a lot of damage.

i can't remember which article i read about flushing before changing fully sync with other type of oil. anyway this is a good read for some sort of knowledge: Car Bibles : The Engine Oil Bible

if i'm not mistaken, the point mentioned was that fully syn oils are "almost" adhesive to the engine internal parts as a protection to the internal parts, therefore the flushing is to remove in total these fully syn oils and allow the semi-syn or mineral oil to perform as they should. having a mixture of fully syn and semi syn@mineral oil has some sort of effect due to this matter i suppose.

feel free to correct me if my info is flawed. we learn from each other. cheers.

just to share, usually i bought a cheapest engine oil, e.g HD40 or those 20w/50 mineral oil, pour it in, run for one or 2 days then release it and refill my fully synch or semi....it works cos i can see sludges and dirt coming out....but have to waste time to remove the filter twice...

Well, i heard that there's a new product from X-1R named Engine Flush. Some of my frens that are mechanics said it is good. I dunno whether it is true or not Need to call them and ask.

Has anyone tried X-1R's engine flush yet? Please share your opinions on this. Thank you.

Arabella.
