A engine with 9:5:1 CR consider as a high compression engine or a low compression one?

Does this engine suitable for turbocharged?

Someone say to me he can install a thicker metal gasket to it and drop it to 8:5 ~

So with the current setup(9:5:1),how much boost is the max considering using Ron 95,Walbro 255 and 350cc Denso Injector ~

rule of thumb BOT engine....

with stock head gasket, stock piston, stock conrod, stock conrod bearing....

u can boost happily at 0.4bar (*provided with proper tuning on engine management comes along)

0.4 is abit disappoint eh =S

If with a 8:0 or 8:5 compression ?

Normally BOT safety boost at that level. Sure you can boost to 0.8 but at your own risk. I believe most of the workshop would not recommended especially if on CVT gear box.

Not on CVT....now it is on Auto but will replace it to Manual soon berfore BOT ~

if CR 8.5:1 or 8.0:1 then probably yes u can...

but still u need a better piston (*and lower compression piston) to withstand the heat and boost pressure...

So do you mind to share with us what is the engine you plan to BOT? Perhaps we got friend already done with it then he can tell you what need to look after.

Thanks for the info ~

The car i want to BOT is a Suzuki Swift 1.5 with M15A powerhouse ~

This engine originally have a forged piston to allow it to rev high ,but that was not a "dished type piston" this one have a flat head instead ~ so if lowered the CR will it withstand with boost around 1 Bar daily =S

Lower compression is one thing. But on another thing, can your stock piston rod able to withstand with 1 bar boost pressure?

If it also forged (like your piston), then you need to sort out your fueling, cooling and management (in order to run 1 bar on daily basis).

Good luck bro. :top:

Conrod and piston is forged one....Crankshaft i think it's not ~ hmm =S

Yeah,1st thing is fuel....thats why i stated to modify/fit a Walbro 255"or equivalent" ,350cc Injector and a aftermarket fuel regulator....cooling will be oil-cooler and ATF cooler 1st as the stock radiator looks quite good for that....unless if it keep overheat if running at 1Bar then will replace it too ~ trying to keep budget low ~ =)

I think your stock ECU cant support your setup atleast you need a piggyback ECU.

Yeah yeah ~ definitely.....cause the original ECU can't read boost pressure signal unless u just "cheat" it....but it will inject same amount of fuel even there is no boost which make the FC worst, black smoke.etc ....but that is a poor mans mod la ~

It must have at least a Greddy E-Manage Blue to run correctly ~

I'm running 0.6 bar @ 150whp with my stock M15A, so far so good. I think for a daily beater it's more than enough, BOT done by GT Auto. FC is not that bad either, if i drive sensibly, I can get around 380-400km per full tank, RM70, ron95. Planning to convert to ZC31 manual g/box soon so that can boost higher, haha...
