Drifting has traditionally been the domain of Japanese sports cars but lately the drift weapons of choice have been getting more and more varied, from American muscle to barge-like Contis.
Regardless, it was always the tipple of the grassroots auto enthusiasts. Now though, drifting has gone upscale, like supercars and the Monticello Motor Club kind of upscale. Just imagine it as taking a Ferrari 599 GTO and going drifting at some deserted industrial area in the wee hours of the night.
The first ever annual ‘Drift with the Supercars’ event was held at Monticello in New York, where it redefined the definition of pornography.
While the video sees the Cadillac CTS-V with the most airtime, we also get cameos by an AMG CLK 63 Black Series, , a C6 Corvette, a Ferrari 575 Maranello and a Porsche GT3 RS. Bear in mind too that all those cars appear in the video with their tail out, every single second.
The best bit is the video was shot from a helicopter circling the track to give you the greatest angle possible and catch all the action from the top.
There were a number of titles up for grabs too. The AMG CLK 63 Black Seriestook home the title for best drift in the supercar category while the CTS-V called the title of best new drift car its own. A Nissan 350Z drove home with the plain, old car competition, just for goold ol’s times I guess.
Now watch the video to see how supercarcs were meant to be used and abused.
