the difference is the compressor wheel, e3 turbine have slightly bigger compressor wheel. if i'm not mistaken e2 has 6cm^2 turbine housing, e3 has 7cm^2 turbine housing.
the lag may not come form the turbo, maybe ur engine setup / tuning. u may service the turbine as precaution :)

well yeah it should be the same as vr4 240 , evo 1 & 2 . well im not sure if its small 16G or big unless some one , open up the turbine housing and check on the compressor wheel . but from the outside u won't be able to tell . well small & big not that much difference .

as how many hp can the turbo crank out ? well it depends on your mods , if you check out dsmtuners.com , galantvr4.org , clubdsm.com , some of them are maxing out 350hp on wheel with their 16G turbo with stock internals and doing high 12s .

here are some tips , very simple tips on how to fully utilize each of every mods .

one of these days i`ll repost the pictures & info , cause i shifted all the images to another server . as for the turbo you need to get the code number , SDF has the small & big 16G number . from the look of the turbine you can't see the difference , the only way to see it by the code number or you have to open up the compressor housing .

1 more stupid question....
is there much difference between e2 and e3 turbine...
can somebody tell me pls....

i'm using an e3 with an e2 turbine (get it frm half-cut)...
noticed the lag...
do i need to refurbish the turbine again...
all the EVO 1-2-3 series uses a 7cm2 turbine housing...
only diff is the EVO-3 turbos which has a larger compressor wheel base (exducer)

49178-01450 = EVO-1
49178-01460 = EVO-2
49178-01470 = EVO-3 (big 16G)

As for Subaru's running on TD05H, it is a small 16G, only difference is that it uses a small 6cm2 turbine housing, therefore you don't feel much lag but wud run out of breath in the higher range of RPM.

vex..

subaru's use the 6cm...with a special 3 bolt triangular flange for the subaru manifold...different from Mitsu flange...

subaru's used the 6cm for better spool up due to the boxer configuration...but..

lately they've all swapped for the IHI VF22...or VF34 series...ball bearing..spools even much faster..

hi

when current trend is using b.bearing design like GT series and ihi RX...mitsubishi still with non bb tech.but mitsu turbo proved to be excellent in drag or track race...especially the mitsu source greddy T88,T67 and mitsu own TD05-16G and TD06-20G.

the mind boggling question in my mind now is that...does bb really that great.or mitsu turbo itself is advance in design so they dont even have to utilize bb tech.
any explaination?
thanks
