does the evo piston take 1.2bar ? and how thick gasket to get.
pisang and wastegate already waiting for me :)Originally posted by GTIEVO3@Jan 27 2005, 17:11
Frankly speaking, original e3 pistons can't take 1.2 bar if continuous boost. If frequent, u might end up cracking ur pistons as its compression is higher than VR4. If u wanna boost max of 1 bar u can do all the stuffs said earlier but more than that, i suggest u change to forged pistons such as JE as it could withstand above 1.2 bar. All other things are irrelevant if your pistons cant take rite?
Probably as much as the cost of your engine with the pins and rings thrown in. :rolleyes:Originally posted by thteh86@Jan 28 2005, 00:07
i wanna know how much does it cost for a forged piston for 4G15

Btw wat kind of pistons r u using? e3 or vr4?Originally posted by momosard@Jan 28 2005, 11:40
Evo3 engine boost 1.2-1.4bar for long run sure ur conrod will patah..... even u r using 280L/H fuel pump also...... testing for 1st gear n 2nd gear is ok lah.......
change to forged piston also conrod will patah first..... the better conrod is VR4-RS conrod >>> boost to 1.5bar also can break down coz evo conrod is too thin so cant use it for high boost.....
my car is using VR4-RS block n evo3 head, turbo, inlet n outlet manifold n a piece of power metal head gasket only......
everyday boost 1.2bar even in highway also until now is 3years adi..... my engine still in gd condition......
but my fren car - satria evo2 modified metal head gasket, port polish head, HKS 272cam, racing clutch n using power 280L/H fuel pump......
boost at 1.2bar only.... at last conrod patah.......
