Earlier today, BMW Group Malaysia introduced the BMW 1 Series M Coupé. If you're an avid //M fan, you'll probably already know that under the bonnet lies an in-line six cylinder engine witn BMW TwinTurbo technology - recently the recipient of the best-in-class award at the 2012 International Engine of the Year Awards. The blown 3.0-litre unit churns out 340bhp/450Nm from as low as 1,500rpm. Zerotohundred sprint dispatched in a scant 4.9 seconds; enough to scare cars above the 1M's league.
There's a fair number of electronic wizardry as standard: M differential lock, Driving Stability Control (DSC), Antilock Brake System (ABS) and anti-slip control, Dynamic Brake Control, Cornering Brake Control, to name a few. Passengers (both front and rear) will be supported by sports seats wrapped in Boston leather, with contrast orange stitching on black as well as M logos embossed into the headrest. The M leather steering wheel also has multifunctional capabilities for operating audio and telephone systems, including the M button that enables the driver a greater degree of hoonery.
If you're in the market for a serious performance coupé and are contemplating the 1M, then you'd better act fast - word is that only three units have been brought in (all in the same shade of orange), and that one has already been accounted for. BMW says that this car is meant to pave the way for younger target groups to access the hallmark M driving experience, and will most certainly be one of the most exclusive, dynamic, luxurious and individual sports coupé in Malaysia. It retails for RM508,800 (on-the-road, without insruance).
