Should i go for Kenwood amp?

I'm looking to upgrade my ICE sytem..i'm planning to buy 2 amps..one is 4 channel amp and 1 monoblock amp..can anyone advise me on which amp to buy..

4 channel amp..
should have power rating of 70-100 RMS per channel..
to drive a pair of either Focal K2 Power or Helix Exprit HXS 136 up front..
dunno yet what speaker to put at the rear..
built in crossover or equilvalent..
budget around RM1000-RM1500..
thinking of getting kenwood KAC-8452..

monoblock amp..
power rating of 300-500 RMS..
2 ohm stable mono..
to drive 2 12 inch Helix Deep Blue sub on ported box..or maybe sealed..but scared not enough power..dunno..which one better?..
budget around RM1000-RM1500..
thinking of getting kenwood KAC-9152D..

guys..any suggestion?..thanks..

one more thing..any suggestion on where to buy original and reasonable price for componet sets..Focal or Helix..

try to drive Focal with kenwood haa haaa, are you crazy....I'm not suggest U to buy monoblock amp, very difficult to sell it back or sold to others ppl...try fine 4ch & 2ch class A/B made from europe laaa... Stuff from there very nice in SQ like Audio system, Steg, Genesis etc ...or from Japan like Alpine MRV-F450 or oldskol Alpine MRV-405, MRV-F505, MRV-F407, MRV-F507, MRV1005, MRV1505 & MRV1507 if can get laaa

why dont u combine the budget of the 2 amps and just get one good 4 channel amp, just drive the fronts passively.

focal k2p is a good set and a steg or audio system amp with 150wx4 would be nice, plus they would have enuff power to run the sub when bridged mono.

later on if u want to go active, just add the monoblock and an electronic crossover.

I had a kenwood 2 channel amp and it still live and kicking until today. That amp is 4 years old and it still working and not thinking of selling it. Dont know about you but their amps are good and reliable which is what we are looking for not some amp who only last you for 2 years and blow.

But for the mono i suggest you look for other amps. With that budget i'm sure you can find amp which has more watt that 500.

a watt is a watt. There is no china Watt or Japan Watt or US Watt. Get an amp that is reliable, give the rated power and within your budget then you will be happy regardless of the brand.

I guess now ICE is more towards branding than quality. Bear in mind that most manufacturers invested a lot in cosmetics than quality.

Yes it true, if we always go accessories shop we can get stuff looking good in cosmetic but if you go to specialist shop than you can see the quality stuff...For me if I buy Focal K2P for more than RM2.5k a set, I will find a good amp to drive it...if not dont waste U money...Focal is a good speaker if use cap ayam amp, the sound came out also cap ayam laaa... Dont cry & blame others ppl after that...For Amp ...? What the Amp...? Watt made by ...? That not cool...Actually the important thing is the characteristic of Amp, how much watt RMS it can produce but not made in (very dump), output must be clean & clear even at high volume (excellent in sound quality), size of amp (did we have space for it), reliabillity (can keep/run for long term) & lastly must match with your component or sub woofer...If I'm really want enter into ICE I will follow what Zen suggestion/recomendation...but monoblock ??? or 2ch class AB...??? Monoblock speacial built to drive Subwoofer...2ch Universal U can drive sub, low mid (mid-bass), high mid (mid-range) or tweeter ...now depend on your ...U also must think for future upgrading...dont waste ur money dump thing....right know alot immitation stuff out there...just do the research...

Why not get an ADS P450.2 for the font active... though rated at 50w, it sounds very nice :)

Also, for the subs, tyr also looking at the Alpine mono's. or get the Orion XTR 900.2 for it and run them at 4 ohm stereo... that'll be 225w per sub.

my first amp i ever bought was kenwood 50wx2. later it was stolen and the insurance (i was in australia) replaced it with mtx 30wx2. same price range but half the power, obviously i was upset but the audio shop asked me to listen if the sound improves or not. the difference was like night & day, and the guys at the shop told me to stay away from cheap jap amps. so for me the american watt is much better than japanese watt, in this particular case. in a way im glad the amp got stolen :tongue:
