Any specific issues or things that need to pay attention when buying this car now? Are parts still easy to get too? I'm seriously considering to buy this for my son to learn to drive, so any input is appreciated.
If possible, why not consider the newer ZC32S since that model can take in RON95 to run. This one can only run on RON97.

Turbocharged for a new driver? Maybe better start with NA Swift Sport first. Then can learn heel toe technique from 6ue5t too if it is manual.

Yes, this one. The one with sharper looking rear lamps. I don't think can get it below 30k for now.
Almost double his budget. Actually that was why my old cars not sold off, hand down to kids to learn to drive. If fact they using them now for work too.....:driver:

Yeah way over budget for now. If in the next 2 years can get below 30k then I'm certainly interested. That 20k difference in price can be used to pay how many liters of ron97 leh!

Yes, I just want std car first to be simple, reliable, and no headache for first time drivers. This Swift Sport seems to tick all the boxes.
Yeah I want them to be able to learn manual driving and they are also eager for it. :driver:

But your VR will always be your own car.

Nearly double the price. But if newer ones, maybe can still pay in installment. But I think that is not your plan.

How about finding something that is closer to what you used to drive back in Indonesia? C99 Wira? 4G93 DOHC like your previous Lancer. Perhaps you can even take that car for a drive yourself too.

Not yet performance car la, just a fun zippy city car. If I were to buy real performance car like an Evo, it'll be for myself first! :driver:
Swift Sport is an entry level performance car.

If I buy the older 2008-2009 models, then I can still get loan if I buy within this 1 year if I want to. Actually that newer model is really tempting now coz it's even faster at 136hp/160nm with 6 speed too! That should be pretty fun to drive, even beating my old 4G93 back then! :driver: But I also don't want to spend too much coz they might get some fender benders along the way later.

I try to get a car which is not too old (within 10 yrs old max) so will not give too much headache especially to them as new drivers. I don't want later they got stranded and I have to rescue them from anywhere.

No, it's not. It's just kinda sporty little car but not yet a performance car. IMHO entry level performance cars is like the Integra/Civic Type R, S2000, or Subaru WRX Turbo non STI, or something with similar performance. Then real performance car starts with the Evo or those that can accelerate from 0-100 in 5 secs or less.

My older son actually told me why I don't just buy an Evo for myself so he also can learn to drive manual using that car! Then I said, "yeah right, in your dreams son! If I were to buy an Evo, I might let you drive it only when you're already very good and with me in the car so I can set the boost all the way down!"

hahahaha....nice smart quote from ur son, bro 6ue5t.
If that is the case, Swift Sport seems to fit your criteria. Your son does know how to convince you on getting a better car to drive. The closest thing to an Evo in the price range of 30k plus would be used Inspira 1.8 manual I guess. Age wise, still newer than these 2008-2009 Swift.

Yeah, they're juveniles now, so the mouths are getting smarter and smarter!

Actually they don't do any convincing, it's all my idea to get that car: something not too old, small so easy for new drivers, reliable and good fuel consumption, still cool and fun for young guys, manual and zippy to drive. So this Swift seems to be the only one that fits all that criteria.

Inspira? Naah not interested coz I don't like the shape, and it's probably slower and not as fun too. My kids don't like that car either. They follow me, only likes the previous Evo designs. :)
