Mainly audible only in 4th or 5th gear, at high speeds when I let go off the throttle and the car's moving momentum is driving the engine...
there will be this " rirrrrrr " noise coming from the engine, as if some intake stuff is loose and somehow creating a turbulence of air somewhere in it. I've checked all the hoses and intake piping for loose connections, but found nothing... anyone knows whats up? Any cures?

Im thinking some air pressure in the manifold area is making noise.

edit: I forgot to say, at low rpms (1-2k) and above 50% throttle, a " srrrrr " noise will appear also. head ache la... :(
My car is a 99' GTi...

HOW TO SELECT A PERFORMANCE CAMSHAFT
When selecting a performance camshaft, consider the use for which the vehicle will be required.
We all know the claims: 20 BHP extra. This sounds great – but think! These automotive manufacturers can’t be that silly to disregard
20 BHP by changing a camshaft.
Ask yourself! Where is this 20 BHP? Probably not where you will ever use it at 7500 rpm...
