I have only heard of Mivec 1.6 head + GSR 1.8 block = Mivec 1.8 Turbo....
but, Mivec 1.6 + 4G93P block shud be can right?
I have never heard of any 1.8 Mivec engine before, only the hybrid ones.

if im not mistaken, FTO 1.8L engine isnt even mivec, and its a SOHC, so i think its a 6A11?? I think FTO mivec is the 2.0 version, FTO GPX, they call it, since it produces near 200hp and its 2litre, so i assume its 6A12. for those 6A engines, i think only 6A12 NA is mivec....200ps 6A12 version. the rest, 170, 240 TT versions aren't.

please correct me if im wrong, im not very sure of it either.

say if a GSR 1.8 with mivec head is used(turbo of course), how much would the power rating be? higher than 170hp(4G92 mivec power rating) or even surpassing 180hp(around GSR turbo's power rating)??

there is no 1.8 mivec... the 1.8 mivecs around are 1.6 mivec heads + 1.8 block from either the 4g93p or the gsr 4g93....

.... if your planning to do a hybrid 1.8 mivec... please find a good a reputable mech that has done the conversion before....

btw 2.0 mivec can't fit into our wira/putra/satria engine bay... have to modify mounting so its illegal..... anywayz... the displacement is already too big to be legal for our cars... ;)

cheers and have fun

Im fairly confident that the 1.8 FTO is a 16-Valve 4 potter. Probably a 4G93. :)
6A12 2.0 FTO also got non-MIVEC...

or alternatively u can use a 1.8 block and bore it bigger....than it will become 2 litre....but bewarn....there are many workshops but only some good ones can achieve that will execellent results, otherwise u will just become another cms potatoe head :)

IMO, for a beginner it is better to use normal 1.6 MIVEC as this 1.8 hydbrid sometimes causes a lot of hassles

agreed. My ride is oso a 1.8 Mivec : GSR block with Mivec head (non-turbo). No hassle except for normal tear and wear of your machine parts ie: fuel pump, timing belt, plug cable etc etc. Maintainance is just like any other NA car. Check your oil / radiator / hoses / battery / sensors regularly and you'll be riding a fantastic ride for years to come :)

no no....not at those rpms too late liao...by the time your mivec opens, u already kena smoked by your opponents liao.....even a standard 4g93 can smoke u if your MIVEC opens too late, best range is around 5000 - 5800, mine is somewhere around this range....not exactly accurate but its around there.....

anyways.....mivec is not a turbo.....unless u do up your internals truthfully, otherwise pls avoid running against turbo cars :)
(albeit I have been running against some, on n off though :)

finally....my best bet is ....if u r owning a PROTON...but wouldnt wan t jon the league of WIRAlutions...well mivec is the way to go for it......if u like u can go for a full fledge 1.6 mivec ( just pluck n play from a 1.6 mivec halfcut ) otherwise for more serious power, go for the 1.8 hybrid, this rocks !!

It all started with my odometer getting stucked and not moving. I took apart the meter console and managed to get the odometer fixed DIY. Now my prob is that the speedometer needle no longer moves smoothly. I believe I did not re-install it back properly. I am stumped because the speedometer needle assembly has got a very small ball bearing (just one) and I am not sure where to put this. My needle would move up with increase in speed but once I am slowing down, the needle does not move...
