Fortunately for all, all new cars now use timing chain which can last for more than 250,000 km. Just need to check every 50,0000KM after that. But the water pump might leak before the timing chain cause problems. :)

based on manual, it stated the belt can last for 100,000km. just to be safe pre-caution, change it around 80,000km will do coz you have to consider the time taken during jam, waiting and idling.

Actually the factory is correct as 100,000 km is include u start engine without moving time...
If like to play pick every day, it is better change it at 50,000 km as I have fren that change 2 engine coz of timing belt and he just drive 55,000 km onli timing belt say bye bye and the engine whom fall in love with the timing belt also say bye bye...
Good Luck...

that means all the engineers are stupid when they released the spec >.<. when they sell you the car they only expect you to run the car in the garage and not driving the road....

Recommended to change between 80 - 90K km I bought my kelisa 2nd hand and at that time mileage is already 89000KM+. So, I got it change after a month when is around 90000KM+. Since is a 2nd hand car, I change it for better precaution judging by the brake pads used by previous owner, was almost botak. Too dangerous to use & will damage my brake disc if use further.

Kinda neglecting his own safety.

After changing, recommended to change timing belt at 80K KM by my mech...

If not mistaken, based on user manual... should change at 70k km mark

...and as per bro Danz said, do change your water pump as well

*I might not owned a kelisa but my kancil's (850 EZi model) original engine was the 850cc twin cam injected engine.. same as kelisa's 850cc model (one with black bumper)*

but some brands like gates can lasts up to 100k kms with warranty.....
it also depends on your driving style.....turbo cars running with normal belts have to change 50-60k kms, those
running on kevlar belts can lasts up to 80-90k kms.
