Anybody know of one who you have experience with? Please don't recommend one because your dog's bitch's owner's ex-boyfriend's aunty's son serviced their gearbox before.

I don't know why but there doesn't seem to be many information floating around as to where to go. And prices can vary by so much. One place says RM1500 and another says RM5000 for a recon gearbox. Car's a Suzuki Vitara 3 door 1.6L year 2000.

Actually its just leaking and the o-rings seals are kaput I reckon.

Madness.

I personally think you should talk to your mechanic and get him to use his contact to get the GB fixed.

His contact says RM2000 to service, RM5000 for recon.

If only ATF leaking why need recon unit?
Apart from leaking generously, previously had low ATF pressure, car failed to engage reverse. Means you shift to R, it takes a while to actually engage reverse gear.

A bottle of magic liquid fixed it (frankly speaking, the liquid was <RM100, so I whack only, hoping it'll do miracles). But it only fix the "unable to engage gear" issue, but did not fix the leaking issue.

I like your suggestion, but I don't have the luxury of time. My mech has never worked on automatic gearboxes before, and we are close friends so he won't say yes to me and "bantai" it.

Since the reverse issue has been fixed, why not just repair the leak only?
