Your BOV is leaking boost out all these while and by luck your revving dislodge whatever dirt which cause the leak?Dear All,
Just about 2 days ago, my legs are itchy and decided to rev the engine hard while stationary just to listen to its BOV sound. After a while, to my surprise, suddenly the engine transformed and the car just accelerate even crazier then before, the air intake suction noise is so sound and car just sprints everywhere.
Until today i still can't figure out why the sudden transformation. Any one can help to clarify?
Thanks,
Ken
Well i did change my BOV settings back to stock, after discovered that my current SSQV is non-recirculating BOV hence caused the engine to idle and revs shitty. Anywhere else i should look out for so that my engine performance is consistent.Your BOV is leaking boost out all these while and by luck your revving dislodge whatever dirt which cause the leak?
Have you upgraded the cooling yet? Also how is the water recirculating for your block? There should be water going to the back of the engine. Without this the engine gets reaaaaaally hotWell i did change my BOV settings back to stock, after discovered that my current SSQV is non-recirculating BOV hence caused the engine to idle and revs shitty. All still using stock BMW cooling system, on normal driving, the stock temp gauge shows that its lesser than middle line, spirited driving will push the temp pass mid line a little and stays there. My mechanic told me the stock BMW temp gauge, middle line is somewhere 90 degrees. The stock 1jz thermostat is fully open at 95 degrees so that's why through spirited driving, the temp climbs a little and stays there.Have you upgraded the cooling yet? He's not wrong. JZs run hot. I'd go get a low-temp thermostat though. All still using stock BMW cooling system, on normal driving, the stock temp gauge shows that its lesser than middle line, spirited driving will push the temp pass mid line a little and stays there. What's your take for this ?
Thanks

My reply will be some sort like bro. gunnerzz, revving the engine could have dislodge something, carbon piece stuck somewhere or cleared your injectors. You can see most mechanic when tuning, normal revs the engine......lolDear All,

I already have NTCL thermostat on standby, bought but havent install yet. The next oil change will install it. Hopefully that controls the temperature better. He's not wrong. JZs run hot. I'd go get a low-temp thermostat though.
Funny enough the revving was done by me, my colleagues all came out to check what was i doing as it was 745 am in the morning. They thought i am driving stock standard 318ci all this while Gotta love the stealth look.My reply will be some sort like bro. gunnerzz, revving the engine could have dislodge something, carbon piece stuck somewhere or cleared your injectors. Under cover is best, like my VR now look like junk......lolFunny enough the revving was done by me, my colleagues all came out to check what was i doing as it was 745 am in the morning. They thought i am driving stock standard 318ci all this while Gotta love the stealth look.

Yes the best feeling was you caught some high performance car off guard on a toll launchUnder cover is best, like my VR now look like junk......lol
That sounds like the more normal voltage (13.4 - 14.4V) on idle. Did you uprate the fan?Just modified radiator spare tank with a customized aluminium one. Adds blink to the engine bay. Also added a 500amp battery cable from alternator all the way back to the battery in truck. This rose the car's voltage to about 13.4-5v at idle will A/C on. Is this figure good enough?
Thank,
Ken
yup normal, as long voltage maintain. I get this figure too with battery relocated to trunk.Just modified radiator spare tank with a customized aluminium one. Adds blink to the engine bay. Using stock BMW M43 fan, this thing spins strong and takes lots of amp. That sounds like the more normal voltage (13.4 - 14.4V) on idle. Did you uprate the fan?
Nice , the next thing my mech suggested is to uprate the negative battery terminal, as far as i did, i only uprated the positive one and leave the negative terminal stock. Will it be better to change that as well or just leave it be ?yup normal, as long voltage maintain. I get this figure too with battery relocated to trunk.
Remember to put fuse ehh...lol
