hi all honda owners.......

just want to share your honda civic's knowledge.....
by comparing the honda civic's weight, which is the lightest to the heaviest...?

1) civic ef 2 door
2) civic ef 4 door
3) civic eg 2 door
4) civic eg 4 door
5) civic ek 2 door
6) civic ek 4 door....
7) civic ek 9 type r

what is the ranking from lightweight to heavyweight?
can anyone please arrange the ranking?
i've been wondering because i heard some say ef 4 door almost the same weight with eg 2 door and ek 2 door is heavier than ef 4 door.... course ef (9) 2 door with B16A have the most advantages of all the civic's family (the lightest)... can anyone can share some light here...... thank you....
note: we are talking road car not stripped car...

From my point of view,

The 2 door EF is the lightest, if you remove the insulation, carpeting, sound proofing material, plastics, I think high 8xx kgs possible.

The heaviest would probably be the EK 4 doors.

Ah! that last part didn't appear when I first replied. :P

Still the EF will be the most lightweight.. The EF and EG 2 door variants don't really have a lot of differences in terms of weight.

the lightest civic to date should be SB3/SB4. It's about 850kg in stock form.

Weight reduction that do not harm the drivabilities include:

1. Change to bucket seat
2. Lightweight rims
3. Remove spare tyre

You probably can reduce 50kgs from these stuff.

The newer the car, the heavier it will becomes.. coz all the improvement & gadgets (ABS, power/electirc everything, imrpoved insulations, etc) that made standard to the car will increase generation by generation.

Civics generally getting larger & larger each generation.. hence the increase in weight - most of other production cars in fact are. Comparing EF with EG/EK is like comparing apple & watermelon....

Besides, what the point comparing the weight between EF & EG/EK?
