Looks like 2012 is going to be a busy year for the new Toyota 86 as Toyota Motor Corporation reveals its GAZOO activity plans for this year. With attention on broadening the appeal of motorsports and nurturing more car enthusiasts, the activity plan is also aiming to make ever-better cars to improve the driver’s satisfaction.

And to put the all-new 86 straight to the test, it will make an appearance with its elder V10-bearing brother, the Lexus LFA, in one of the most challenging and grueling races ever, the 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance race from the 17th to the 20th of May. The GAZOO Racing Team will not only be represented by professional drivers like Juiichi Wakisaka and Akira Iida, but will also put their own employees in the racing team as drivers and mechanics, to get more on-field exposure and experience in the aim of developing ever-better cars for the satisfaction of the drivers.

But even with such a big event in hand, Toyota still has its eyes on the grassroots level of the sport. In the effort of promoting grassroots motorsport in Japan, TMC will sponsor teams that will be utilizing the new 86 in the Super Taikyu Endurance Series and the All-Japan Rally Championship. Besides that, TMC has also lined up this year’s schedule for the GAZOO Racing “Waki Doki” Circuit Events, where it will give the racing fans the rare opportunity to experience a wide range of special events ranging from circuit driving to driving lessons.

And even while not travelling at great speeds, TMC is still continuing its effort in giving car enthusiasts the opportunity to get up-close and personal with their beloved machines. One of them, running since 2001, is the Toyota GAZOO Racing Festival, scheduled to be held at the Fuji Speedway in late November. GAZOO Racing will also be having its own exhibition booth at other famous events like the Tokyo Auto Salon, 24 Hours Nurburgring and also the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

And during these entire events, the slogan “I Love Cars!” will be used by TMC during its GAZOO activities to encourage the car enthusiasts to mingle around with one another through motorsports at various events.
