Hi..
Im still new with the rotary engine, so i want to ask the otai2 here about sumthing regarding rx7. What is the best rpm reading when in idle mode for rx7? cuz i saw one of this rx7 which in idle mode is 1500rpm, is it normal or not for the rotary engine?

1500 is not a good RPM.... you should be idling at 900rpm... 1500 rpm probably the mechanic adjust for you as they can't balance at 900rpm... send to a reputable rotary builder and they will sort it for you...

causes of unstable idle is the adjustment of bleed in the manifold, worn spark plug, bad tuning, bad compression, vacuum leak... it can be ANYTHING...

yeah probably.... but it still saddens me if they stop the development of a new rotary engine T.T
That'll probably be the death blow to a very exciting piece of engineering T.T

exactly,, where on earth to find an engine 140 kg producing more hp than v6 300kg weight,, bloody clever technology... so many rotary heads going to sob..only thing once in a while has to spend big buck for rebuilt as the apex seal kong off.. like what i am doing now..

All low-chassis sport cars will be a bit hot at the tunnel sue to transmission and exhaust pipe heat.

be it a RX7,RX8,350Z,Supra,silvias....you can ask the owners...just the center console a bit warm..not too hot till u suffocate inside the car as people exagerates

ok, i have been surveying RX-8 forums in and out of Malaysia and car dealers around JB before i'm getting an RX-8...but seems like is hard, in fact very hard to find a MT RX-8...most of the dealer are having AT in their place...so i'm considering to get an AT(of course I still prefer a MT). So, what i wanna know from sifus and owners of RX-8 in here is:
1)does it really make a big different between AT and MT RX-8?
2)can the paddle shift in AT work responsively as the MT RX-8?
3)does the cost of maintainace of AT higher or lower than the MT?
4)does 6 ports AT exist?

PLEASE...i need some opinions and advises....
Thank you!!!

1)does it really make a big different between AT and MT RX-8? - Owned a 6AT before I changed to FD, get a 6MT. huge difference.
2)can the paddle shift in AT work responsively as the MT RX-8? - first gear low end not as responsive as 6MT even if you launch at 3k RPM.
3)does the cost of maintainace of AT higher or lower than the MT? Same same..
4)does 6 ports AT exist? - theres alot of 4ATs in the market, dont buy them unless its 6AT.

FC3S can be anything from 15 to 35 K.

Engine rebuild can be from 1.5 to 3K.

For Campro owners most will have faced this minor issue of oil leak at the top valve cover. This problem will start roughly around the 30,000KM plus mileage. If you are a slow driver and seldom rev the engine hard you can delay this problem until 60,000KM or so...when the oil leak happens it does not affect the engine performance but just becoming an eye sore and if go unattended the leak will start to worsen or other parts of the top cover will start to leak. This problem can be solved and...
