Taking a little stroll through the Porsche workshop at their Glenmarie center recently, it was akin to walking through the doors of Santa's little workshop, save for the fact that the sleighs were powered by boxer lumps and the toys being fixed cost quite a pretty penny more than the jack-in-a-box Santa would have.

Following a complete upgrading of the service and repair facilities after the acquisition of the Porsche brand locally by the Sime Darby Motors Group, the Porsche folks were understandably very eager to share the new upgrades to their service facility with the motoring fraternity and Porsche owners alike.

While the brand might not command volume in any of its markets, being a premium sports car maker has its own set of responsibilities that the clients will come to expect in return, especially in the area of after sales.
Hence, the recent updates to the Porsche Glenmarie center's workshop to bring it up to par. To say that the level of cleanliness is next to godliness is a gross understatement, much alike how the technical superiority of the equipment makes the stuff you see at your normal authorised service centers look like Gameboys.

The total revamp has brought the place up to par with the standards that Porsche AG sets for its authorised centers. That is the only way that some of the specialised vehicles that the brand sells can be properly tended to under the right hands.

Take for example the Cayenne Hybrid; the SUV is as much of an electrical machine as it is a petrol-burning vehicle. Therefore, the technician must be properly trained to handle the high-voltage bits of the drivetrain. Even the service technicians are trained to different levels, with only the top level ones allowed to work on the Hybrid vehicle.
