Torrential rain, coupled with strong winds and cold temperatures weren’t enough to stop the Motul-Autech GT-R from claiming victory in the GT500 class with Benoit Treluyer and Satoshi Motoyama behind the wheel at the Fuji Speedway.

The weather pounded the track for most of the race, forcing the marshals to bring the race to a halt on Lap 60 of the scheduled 66 lap race. Such was the rain that cars were spinning out all over the place, which prompted the officials to red flag the race and call it a day.

It was a strong showing from the Nismo works team as the pair started from sixth on the grid and worked their way up to take victory. Coming in second was the Eneos SC430 driven by Daisuke Ito and Kazuya Oshima followed by the Wedssport SC430 with Tatsuya Kataoka and Seiji Ara at the helm.

The GT300 class was won by the Hankook Porsche driven by Masami Kageyama and Tomonobu Fuji. The duo made easy work of the rest of the field as they produced a pole-to-flag win, never looking like they were about to relinquish the lead during the race. Completing the podium was the Jim Gainer F458 GTC with Tetsuya Tanaka and Katsuyuki Hiranaka driving followed by the Zent Porsche of Akihiro Tsuzuki and Takeshi Tsuchiya.

Although this round was the first round of the season, technically it has been dubbed Round 2 due to the calendar that was set earlier. The opening round was supposed to at Okayama but the earthquake forced a change in scheduling. Nonetheless, the Okayama round remains as the official Round 1 but will be held after this before the entire circus comes to Malaysia for Round 3.
