Guys

Need help.. my Altezza while driving + 120 km/h the steering gegar and feel very lite... and the best part is, the vibration only come while driving in rain / on wet road... while on dry road, can go faster without any prob...no vibration...
so went to our Altezza taikor workshop, been told that the prob is with my alligment & balancing...ok... that day itself went to do the alligment & balancing... after everything's done it started to rain... so try to drive + 120 km/h.. and the same thing happend...
went to another Altezza taikor workshop, they also tell me the same thing... thinking of the 1st tyre shop staff maybe did not do the job well, so try to do it again my balancing & alligment at another tyre shop.. yet after that same thing happend... and its become worse when TRC off...
currently using 18" and using MICHELIN Pilot Preceda... the tyre just use about 5-6 mnths only and i only drive my altezza during weekends most of the time...
so any idea...? kering idea sudah...

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

steering light can be so many things...hydroplaning,toe-out,+ve camber.

Others....suspension,bushings,ball-joints and/or lower arm.

hope this helps.

my bet is on bushings & ball-joints.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

you should check your rim... most of the time , low speed vibration comes from the rim itself. If one of your rims (front ones) has a dent or balancing weights is gone you might experience low speed vibrations and it will be gone at high speed... you better do a check as this might damage the bushings as well...

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

TRDtezza... Alias is saying that he experience the vibration at 120km/h only during when it is raining. It has nothing to do with low speed vibration dude.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

whoops.. i guess read something and the brain took something else.. Well , after reading it carefully i don't really know what is wrong. dry and wet surfaces has just got to be the tyres itself then , as its the only thing that contacts the road... I don't think any other part of the car will create any difference in tropical climates.. check the tyres maybe @@

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

yes..might be caused by the uneven tyres (bunga tak rata or makan dalam). Happened to me b4..normal driving was ok..when reached 90-100km/h...car, steering start vibrating..when reached 110-120....180km/h no vibrates. changed both front tyres..problem solved.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

G221 , he was mentioning about wet and dry road condition , not speed.. ( why does this sound to familiar)

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

TRDtezza, yup...he was mentioning about the prob when in wet condition. I was explaining my prob happened when in wet and dry..so won't be no harm if look at the condition of the tyres and change both the front tyres.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

we are all trying to second guess!
Perhaps bro alias could elaborate what changes apart from the tyres and rims.ie whether it just happened becoz of wear and tear or becoz of change tyres and rims.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

guys...

thanks for the advices..

tyre (MICHELIN Pilot Preceda) - checked with the tyre shop.. bunga everything ok... the condition is still good... the rear tyres a bit older than the front, but i think that doesnt caused that vibration etc as the tyres also are still in good condition... maybe another 20k ++ km only need to change it...

rim sukan (Gram Light) - if balancing ok means the rim is also ok rite...?

bush - just changed to TRD bushing 2 mnths back at our taikor workshop... changed together with another standard lower arm there as the bush comes with it..

driveshaft????

and also no mod on whatever related to handling...everything is stock...

aiyooo... pening...

nway will go again to our taikor workshop and let you all know the result... maybe by end of this weekend...

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

did you check for the any uneven places of the threads? I'm previously using preceda as well , soft but the threads tend be uneven soon after a month... i experience noise first , but then i changed it ...not sure if it will lead to any vibration .

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

methinks it could be bush and lower arm

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

alias, try going to alex's place in bandar tasik selatan. perhaps he can help you.

one way of doing it is loosen all ur suspension links...meaning to loosen all the nuts n bolts n drive around slowly, then retighten. this might help.

this guy is ex-rally driver so he can probably help you out. he can also have a look at ur car

cheers

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

Is it possible the new bush's prob? Change d only happen?

But mostly the lower arm prob. Experienced before but for another car. Try that.

Re: Need an advise: Gegar when > 120 km/h

theres nothing to be shy about. you are after all a customer to him.

just go look for him. I would say he is very knowledgeable in cars especially the altezza after so many transplants.

like i said, everything u also need to try lo.
