if the setup is done correctly & using good products within recommended freq range, should not be a prob blasting the speakers, assuming speakers has gone thru a break-in period too
tuning which was done correctly, no distortion & clipping at that level, no prob also

Should do gradually, not suddenly, the speaker got shock already(get more power suddenly), but as long as still within its limits, should be not much problem.

nitrus, Did u scope ur setup? what is ur hu max volume? What ir ur current listening volume? U install any amps?

Try to do this (i assume u install amps already)
1) try lowering down ur amps volume gain
2) Try to set ur hu gain to max c determine ur max volume
3) try to set ur hu volume gain at 70%
4) Now try set ur amp gain to ur listening level
5) viola, u r now maximising ur hu gain so next time 70% of ur hu volume is ur listening gain n u can add 5% to 10% more.
