Hydraulic Lifter Noise/Tappet Noise on 4G63T

Mine too if I pop open the bonet, then I can hear the ticking sound, normally during cold starts but once warmed up, a lot quieter. i am using 5w-40 fully synthethic engine oil

I never had that noise even on my old motor. When I upgraded to the larger lifters after rebuilding no noise also... quiet.... oil pressure ok??

I don't have an oil pressure meter. The indicator on the dash did not lite up either, so I will assume the oil pressure is okay.

I will try 10w/50 in my next oil change and will use mineral oil. Maybe will drain it out at 3000 km and have a more frequent oil change. Currently, I am using fully sync and change at 7500km. My car stuck in jam daily, so I know there's a lot of carbon deposites.

Where can you get 10w-50 mineral oil?

I think the sound is quite common. So long no engine knock registered then should be OK. I changed and bleed before noise just become quieter but can still hear. Unless you try those GSC zero tick lifters which I have not try before but I heard those really is zero tick - no sound.

I think Mineral usually will be 20w-50, 15w-40. 10w-50 usually will be FS....

that's what I plan to do soon... I hope popping in the new lifters will solve the problem once and for all.
