Hi guys,

Since car-theft is rampant nowadays, here's some additional security. This job was done on a Proton Wira.

Required items (can be easily obtained from any electronic shop):
1) Switch (single-pole, single-throw recommended)
2) Wire (thick ones, length depends on where you want to put the switch)
3) 6x Connectors, 4 female 2 male (spade-types would suffice. Not recommended to just connect using sticky tape, as what normal workshops will do)
4) Crimper (used to crimp the connectors)

Process :

1) Remove negative terminal of the battery
- Just a pre-caution

2) Remove rear seat.
- Remove the 2-bolts near the seat-belt. You need to push the cushion down a bit to see them.
- Bend down and you'll notice 2-hooks on the bottom-left & bottom-right. Pull them and lift the seat up.

3) Cut fuel-wire
- It is the thick Black/Blue wire.
- Leave ~1inch length of wire from the connector block.
- Denpending on your choice, you may cut the fuel-wire at a different location.

4) Look for a suitable spot to hide the switch
- Now you know where the switch is going to connect to, find a good hiding spot for your switch.
- Measure the distance of your routing between the switch and the place you cut your fuel-wire. This will be the length of your wire (Add a few additional inches to your cable length just incase something screwed up). Please try to limit your distance to <3ft.

5) Crimp the connectors
- Now is the time to do the crimping.
- Recommend to put (may differ on the type of switch you use) :
  • 1x male, 1x male to the fuel-wire
  • 2x female on 1 wire (1x female to the switch, 1x female to the fuel-wire)
  • 1x female, 1x male (1x female to the switch, 1x male to the fuel-wire)

*Red is male, Blue is female

- Just as a precaution, put a male & female at the fuel-wire. In this way, if your switch is spoiled, you can just connect back the fuel-wire (1x male, 1x female)

6) Connect the switch, reconnect battery, and test
- By now, most of the work has been done. Check all connections and no exposed wires are touching the body of the car (body = GND)
- Connect the switch (in OFF position)
- Reconect the battery's negative terminal
- Turn the ignition key to ON position
- Make sure you do not see any sparks near the newly installed stuff
- Put the switch into ON position
- Start the car. It should run like normal. Turn OFF the switch, and the car should die off by itself!

7) DONE! Put back the rear-seat and hide the switch!

wow! a good budget security system.....
(provided you hide the switch properly)
Great job bro!!!

few questions, the "fuel line" you mention is the fuel pump wire?
if it is, +ve or -ve wire? or either?

cybtech,
Yup. The fuel line power wire. +ve or -ve will do, as it needs a complete circuit to operate. Just make sure power can still be supplied to the fuel pump manually in the event of the switch is spoiled.

SkYwAlKeR,
Yea, it will work on any pump, as long as it needs electricity to move. The wire coding might be different.

haha....
like when i drive... suddently it stops....
hahaha

don la fully depend on alarm system...
Can make it two or more ways ma...

but that just a idea/plan only....

i was thinking do it like the pros.
a switch at dashboard...
that switch no need to be big high current type, just a small simple switch to control the relay at the back seat.

for me, i didn't cut directly from the underseat rear ...
i make it from fuel pump relay, cut the green wire (Toyota), so whenever u want to start the car, the engine can turn ON for a few sec, later the engine will off ... so ppl will notify it was fuel pump wire :D

Random Post Every 5 Minutes

both of dad n mum car use the same alarm system (same remote control)
i found 1 spare alarm remote control and tested for both of the car but is doesn't work
due to the serial no. writen on the circuit, it is the same for 1 of the car remote control of the bot car so i wana try to adjust so that it can be use for 1 of the car
can u teach me how 2 do?
(bettery had been changed into new battery but still cant be use)
