DRIFT RACING: TENGKU DJAN LEY CONTINUES WINNING STREAK IN ROUND 3 OF D1 GRAND PRIX MALAYSIA SERIES

Ace drifter Tengku Djan Ley powered his way for a second win in Rd 3 of the D1 Grand Prix (D1 GP) Malaysian drift series held at the Shah Alam car park on Sunday, July 1. Driving his Toyota AE 86 Trueno, Tengku Djan who is also a popular driver in the local motor racing circuit is now in a leading position after having won Rd 2, held at Danga Bay, Johor Bahru on April 22 in the five-round series. He was third in Rd 1 also held at Shah Alam on March 11. Genji Hashimoto president of Amprex Motor Sports, the organizer of the event said if Tengku Djan continues his winning streak he will lead the top three winners to have the right to enter the D1 GP international series to be held in the United States in December. The next round is schedule to be held in Penang on Aug. 12 and the grand final back to Shah Alam in October. Second in Rd 3 was Nazrul Afizi Mohd. Nayan in his Nissan Cefiro and third Zero Lim Kim Ling in his Nissan Laurel C33, who was winner of Rd 1. Thirty drivers competed in the day long event which also featured a series of daring demonstrations by Japanese “Drift King” Keichi Tsuchiya, chief judge of the series and also a star in the movie “ Tokyo Drift”, currently screened locally. Hashimoto said the Malaysian series continues to be a success and attracted a huge crowd which impressed drift motor racing officials from Japan, who were also present. Idemitsu is onboard as partner-sponsor which technical sponsor for the series is Proton R3 with Alla-Fonte and Ace Canning co-sponsoring the event. Tsuiso Battle: Round 3: Point Standings:
