Hi sifus,

Are there big gains(like in vtec/mivec) for going high cams on turbocharged engines like evo1/2/3? Worth the upgrade?

Is it true the with high cams and overlap of 2degrees we can make turbo spool quicker to full boost as early as 2.5krpm?

Somehow it's hard to find used cams for these engines yah?

well, based on personal experience (hks 264/264 on a street spec vr4), i have to say, the gains are well worth the money spent. it feels like driving a totally different car. the mid range and top end is just crazy! in my car with super heavy rims, once hit full boost, will still break traction in 4th gear!!! mind u, i'm only using a td05 turbo... plus it idles like a champ!!! drive ur car to TT and everyone knows ur using expensive cams just by listening to ur idle...

hey khoyos, sounds like big gains when you dropped them in your vr4. you were pretty much stock elsewhere and could get that much high end power? did you lose quite a fair bit of low end below 4krpm? also, you dropped in straight 0 degrees or you had them phased a bit?

virtually no power loss at all at low end. too small to be noticed. dropped in without any degreeing even though i'm using adjustable campulleys.

my personal experience using hks 272/272, not worth it if you still using stock turbo.. you can feel the gain but not much... your mid and top (above 5k) will be better than stock and rpm will climb faster... big cam is to compliment big turbo.... works hand in hand... expect no more than 30hp gain...

hks made the 264 to be directly dropped in without any tuning needed. but best if u tune la bro. no need aftermarket valve spring. meaning just buy the cams and install to ur car and u can feel the difference already. its really worth the money if u can find it. very very hard to find 264/264 hks cams locally. i was lucky to have used it before

Honda is definitely one of the automotive giants considered not only in Japan, but on a global scale as well. With its roots long attached with motorsports, appearing in Japan’s greatest touring car championship is a must. And with that, five racing teams will be representing Honda in the upcoming Super GT happening at Sepang International Circuit this weekend, which is also...
