Yo Sifus...

Here I am, driving Wira 1.5 Auto. I planned to convert to 5 speed Manual tranny. So few questions regarding manual tranny are:

1. What's the RPM when the car speed at 90Km/h ? (Which Gear? )
2. What's the RPM when the car speed at 120Km/h?
3. Possible to conver my 1.5A Gearbox to 1.6A Gearbox? due to 4 speed auto...
4. What's the possible problem in future when I convert to Manual tranny?
5. Price to convert? inclusive labour....

Thank You SIfus... Greatly appreciate it!

Regards,

Izso

? ? ? ? ? ? ?

RPM when speeding at 90kmh/120kmh? Huh? You change gear when you feel its time to change la. Otherwise you can do an initial-D with your Wira and change gear at 11000rpms :D :D :D :D :D

In all honesty and in my personal opinion, if you don't know how to handle a manual, either you get someone to teach you (eg-driving school, friend, father, etc) or don't change at all. Cuz if you don't know what you're getting into, you might regret the change.

Converting 1.5A GB to 1.6A? Now why would you wanna do that? 1.6A Wira GB famous for having a thousand and one problems. Better off switching to Evo 7's 5-speed auto tranny. :D

Problems with converts? Severe left leg cramps from the clutch when driving in a jam. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Have a good one dude

Hi Izso,

I am not newbie in manual tranny, just curious asking normal driving style in manual 1.5A wira.

Normally cruising at 90Km/h, the gear oledi at 5th or 4th (struggling, u floor kau kau lah) ? let's say .. 5th gear.. what the RPM?

how about 120km/h? sure at 5th gear right, what's the RPM?

I am not sure about 1.6A having a problem.. just curios mah.. this is my 1st time driving Proton :)

Thx

OIC.. well then. That's a diff story. The RPM for me going at 90kmh is roughly about 3K or 2.8K and I'm running a Wira SE, so I got heavy rims, underpowered engine and slightly diff extractor compared to standard wira. Personally I think 3K is too high.

For 120kmh, its roughly at 4K.

Btw, these RPMs are taken during cruising.

Why are you asking this anyway? And if it's your first time with Proton, my ultimate question is WHYYYYYYYYYYY? I mean.. if you driving something else other than Proton surely it must've been a better build/manufacturer? :D

Hmm.. then it's no point for me to convert to manual, since the RPM reader not much different with my current 3 speed Auto tranny, and will be not much in FC due to 70% highway driving... unless I need more power to climb up to genting :) maybe hold the 3rd gear till genting lah.. hehe

I am a foreigner, so I got this Wira as temporary car. I was driving toyota corolla and Landcruiser 4.2L VX Manual diesel turbo in my hometown.. and my opinion is, those cars RPM much lower on the speed I mentioned before.. around 2.4K at 90Km/h (4th gear) for landcruiser.

Hmm.. I guess nothing much can be done,.. I dont really like Auto car though....
Anyway.... Thx for your input!

Btw, Manuals can do better mileage than auto's any day. But converted gearboxes I've no idea. A manual Wira SE can make 400km on a RM50 tank of petrol whereas the auto can barely reach 350km irregardless of highway driving or not.

General rule of thumb : Heavy foot = heavy FC :D

So it's not the gearbox thing.. it's your right foot. :D :D :D
