While the Petronas Tom’s SC430 took the chequered flag at the Motegi GT 250km race, which was the final round of the Super GT calendar, it was the second place finishers of the Weider HSV-010 team, Takashi Kogure and Loic Duval, that claimed the overall season’s driver title for the GT500 class.

In the GT300 class, the pairing of Kazuki Hoshino and Masataka Yanagida in the Tomica Z won the race and subsequently the season’s drivers title and the team title as well for the Tomica Z team.

The moment the cars crossed the start line, Duval was in the lead, having started from pole. Behind him though, Andre Lotterer in the Petronas Tom’s SC430 was climbing up the grid, having started from fifth and by Lap 13, was right on the tail of Duval.

Lotterer eventually took the lead from Duval on Lap 19 and after the driver change, it was up to his teammate Juichi Wakisaka to hold off Kogure in the chasing Weider HSV-010 up to the finish. It was also the first win of the season for the Petronas Tom’s SC430 team.

It was a less dramatic affair in the GT300 class as the Tomica Z started from pole and just drove unchallenged to victory, leaving the rest of the field in its wake. Coincidently, it was the first win of the season for them too, giving them a come-from-behind victory in the driver’s championship.
