Hi, all.

What the most recommended b8t engine oil to reduce or throw away unwanted noisy from tappet. Current using castrol magnetec.

unfortunately buddy, not many ppl here care too much about our tappet (lash adjusters ) problem.
if your budget is around RM 80 for engine oil, then try Q8. i'm gonna try it myself on my next oil change.

ps: TOTAL semi doesn't help at all

actually B8 tappet very hard getting noise......
my recommend,try use 20/50w (mineral also enough,just add oil treatment)..
my engine already running 150k km summore.....no tappets sound..
slow sound is normal for B8 engine....but if loud sound,suggested to convert lagi larrrr!!!! he he he.....try first!!!!

very hard to get Q8 in penang. All of them jual HKS,TOTAL, MOTUL etc.

Anyway, i heard valvoline 15-50w quite good for b8t. Any comment..????
 
Caltex Semi-Syn, solved my problem...
Change every 3500-4000K's, normal driving and 3000K's hard driving...
My engine is about 182000k's and still going strong, minus the minor leaks and stuff... hahahaha

try Bardahl engine treatment with every oil change.

it works for me.
 
no, sori, haven;t heard about that brand. does your tapping noise go away once you've driven your car for bout 10 mins ?
i was using mineral oil before this ( and adding oil treatments ), and i've found that my engine is so much heavier ! read about how some ppl uses either semi or full synthetics to 'wash' the engine of all the gunk. maybe you can try that approach lar. i'm doing it now...and i'll post up my results once i've changed my oil for the 2nd time. currently on Total semi-synt...it's not bad, but still taps everytime i start the engine.
lots have been said about Q8, pretty good, also apparently Motul is not too bad aswell. alternatively, selenia solves tapping noise for alfas....

Ez way use the cheap cheap oil 30-40 one then when got tappet sound change oil then ok loh .......
thats wat i do now ....... almost 3000km

howz your car lynx_210 ? must be kau kau fast ! done any mods to it ?
 
right now using castrol magnetec....tappet saund start bunyi from early warm up but after +-20 minute gone, then park about 10 minute with engine on still no bunyi. But when i start again, sound come out like hell. More louder than diesel taxi.

Ask some mechanic, almost of them saying that magnetec can kikis engines especially piston ring. The most "tajam" engine oil. I dont' know.

Nitt i guess 1 thing u can do is change oil more loh maybe every 2k km....... use normal oil n try loh
 
how bout stuff like x1r and motor up?
 
tried motor up before, didn't do anything for the adjusters. the thing about oil addictives ( i've noticed ) is that they make all the oil in the engine a whole lot ticker. the only explanation i get from this, and how it eliminates adjuster noise, is that it allows oil to be maintained in the adjuster (after switching the engine off ),a condition which may work to our disadvatage as oil 'treatment' is meant to seal minor leaks between the piston rings and the engine block, hence minimizing oil leak, but produces plenty of gunk and carbon deposits as a by-product. i think there is no doubt that synt oil is supreme to mineral, and we should (where we can ) use it.

i've only seen a lynx with a huge-ass front mount once, white and lowered to the max. i think sometime in bangsar. is that you ?
 
lynx210...... i just change after 2.5k km ...hehehehhe.... yesterday. Change to Valvoline 15w-50 semi-synt. How good..??? Don't know yet. BUT a bit pretty in early warm up.
 
weird oil

I been using Sharlu an ARAB oil since i tranplanted the engine

change every 4k+ - 5k . sharlu DEO ( diesel engine oil ) shield 15w-50

semi synthetic

5litre for 69. Buy 3 bottle can use for 4 oil change. each oil change bout 50

Maybe u all should try.
 
After a week used valvoline 15w-50, a bit better than magnetec. But, I wil try to find Q8 or sharlu for next.
 
anybody know what's the diff between Q8 advance semi and Q8 semi ??? izzit different prices ??

hai,all frens. where i can buy CONOCO brand oil. how much for GOLD type. b4 this i buy from destina but now no more destina. tq.
 
dun use hks turbo oil.. when i start use that shit white start comming out from exzos.. now i change to sheel semi syntetic.. good.. best..
