The thing I don't understand is Ron 95 is supposed to have a higher octane rating than the previous discontinued standard pump gas (Ron 92). Would it be conceivable that problems happened with a switch from 92 to 95 ? Doesn't make sense.

I personally have not found any problems with Shell Ron 95 in my Hyundai Coupe, although I have not really tested their 97. So perhaps on the next refill, I will put in 97.

To be frank, not one opinion in this thread is backed by any form of testing with scientific methodology. So it's pretty hard to draw any firm conclusions whether there really is a problem or just someone's vivid imagination (the 'Placebo' effect....look it up if you don't know what it means).

For the timebeing, I'll keep my opinion regarding 95 to myself, although common sense would normally dictate that if you run a performance car, you really ought to go for the fuel with the highest octane rating anyway, which in this case would be 97.

Some updates, tried BHP RON97. Happy to report no knocking across all RPM, and traveled 350 KM with only 20 liters.
DAMN!!!! 320km for 20liter.. is very fuel efficient with Bot Mod... its about rm35 bucks of current ron97 fuel only... from KL can go down n reach Penang already for that mileage..

actually i'm using wira with 4g93t inside, but while upgrading the suspension i used my old wira.

wira 4g15p standard before this using ron97,rm50 can reach 450km.
after switching to ron95 its a colossal different with same amount only reach 330km only...no joke here.

now trying with 4g93 hope the results wouldn't be worst ................

Basically, to my personal opinion and experience with 95 and 97 so far...Ron 95 i find that it is more FC compare to Ron97 and V-power but Ron95 i find that the throttle responds and the engine does not work that smooth and to gain power, it seems i have to step extra on the pedal to do so. Overall, Ron 95 if for City driving, is more than enough and suitable if we want to save more on petrols without high rev and hard accellerations..

Still, for my own pleasure of driving, I would prefer Ron 97. FC is not that bad but of course, Ron 95 will last longer by driving the same way if were to compare FC.

filled twice into my Evo8..nothing on my GSR physically..and didn't feel power loss that much..but don't wanna take risk anymore..

a friend of mine used it on his DC5R..his check engine's light came out few times..then his knocking sensor felt off from the engine when he looked inside the bay..that's the last time i saw him at any RON95 pumps..he also felt loss of power..

poor-er engine performance in terms of response and power ( ron95 )
worsened fuel consumption for the same amount of fuel as ron97.

Because Petronas is government body if not mistaken? Btw, Petronas do sell RON97, just that its limited to certain branches and Petronas will stop selling RON97 for no-good soon.

i drive an iswara
so far...it's hard to achieve high speed for my car..
Fc wise it's ok not doing that bad unless driving with a heavy foot...
heavy foot with 95 is worst compared to 97..that's my experience..
BHP 95 gives much smoother feel for me..but im on shell95 and primax95 most of the time..
