Hi all

This is my first attempt on engine transplant. I just found a half cut 4G92 MIVEC Auto/Tiptronics (CK4A), have anyone here done a transplant on Satria Neo? Anything I need to take precautious on? Will I be able to use back the Neo dashboard? Any advice and suggestion will be great.

Thanks.

Regards
Thomas

Rebuilding an auto gearbox is worth the money but u send it to a specialist who will break open and upgrade all the clutches, seals and mod the torque converter. Cost can be from RM 5k to 10k depending on model.

do take note that the satria neo has totally different engine mountings compared to the CK4A/Waja/Gen-2. The neo has only 3 engine mountings. you may have to fabricate an adapter to install the engine onto your original neo mountings.

Gen2 can use Evo4. How they mount it? No idea... perhaps they use Evo4 crossmember?

Hi all senior members

Thanks a lot for the responds. What I have is a Satria Neo 1.3(A), the torque is hopeless when it is under 4000rpm(I do most city driving). SInce it is a very heavy car (1100+ kg), a better choice would be a 1.6 engine, but the campro is not my favorite. I bought this car is because as a authorised Proton dealer, need to purchase one a demo car. Other than the engine, the Satria Neo does have a stiff chassis, it feel good on the highway. So thats the reason I am thinking of performing a engine transplant.

Isnt that Gen2, Waja and Neo has the same number of mounting? sicne there are all using the same engine. Let me check with my machinics on this, else fabricating the mounting is out of the questions. If I cant use CK4, any other recommenedation I can look at?

Thanks again to all.

Regards
Thomas

other than mivec, there's also a variant of 4G93T in CK form. i think jpj approval is an issue here.

p/s why on earth did u choose a 1.3? and auto???

As I said earlier, it is a demo car. So going for the cheapest option. So thats the reason why I am looking at the engine upgrade.

Hi all

Alien, thanks. I guess the reason is "Why did he purchase 1.3 auto at the first place?". It is a Demo car that we dealer is asked to purchase during the launch. So for that reason, I chose the 1.3(A), but I was quite disappointed with the engine, especially the low torque at <4000rpm. I have no complain with the body, in my opinion it is the second best chassis and handling ever produce by Proton other than Savvy. The interior dashboard area is solid, althought it still uses those cheap looking material. So the advice and suggestion need from all your experience sifus is how should I improve it. The CK engine option is out of the question, as comfirmed by my machanics, the engine mountings are different. So 4G16 SOHC or the Campro 1.6 engine are also out of the question right, since there are all using the same mounting as the CK. So what is left for me, is exhaust system upgrade, filter upgrade, grounding cable, lighten pulley and etc which will add up more that a engine upgrade and does not guarantee better improvement.
This is just too bad, as the Neo does have a very stiff body which can handle higher power engine. During the launch, I ahve many GTI owner scame and ask bout the Neo, but when they found out that it is using the Campro engine, they just said "No thanks, lets wait for Proton to have a engine other than Campro, then I will consider.", see thats the general comments.

How about changing the cam shaft, pistons and etc in the engine, is there such an option out there? But the Siemen ECU, .... sigh.... If nothing else, may be I should take out all the seats, damping material, carpets to lighten tha car. :hmmmm2:

Thanks.

regards
Thoma

i got a question: how durable is the s.neo 1.3liter engine, and gearbox? there will be a limit to what you can do with the engine, and IMHO it is best to research a bit into that. If the "limit" isn't enough to satisfy you, then might as well do not mod the current engine.

and ultimately the budget too, unless you say the sky's the limit.

Not sure about the durability and limit this engine can substain. However I have decided that I just need improvement on the torque as the first priority. Since this is a demo/test drive car, it is better not too mislead anyone who actually tested it.:_: I will go for the Hotbit exhaust system, drop in K&N filter, mythelogy lighten pulley, HOt Inazma HVS type LR and may be some ground cables. It should cost about RM2000++.

Thanks all who responded. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Cheer:beer_yum::present::beer::party::dancing2:
