have not use this tire before so can't comment on it. AD08R is fine on damp non puddle road, you just need to warm them up a bit before you take on them on a damp road.
Other than Rovelo, there's other extreme tires that not so harsh on the wallet, Zestino 07R (240TW or RS 140TW) are good extreme tires, The Kumho V720, this tire is a bit noisy and might gives you the sensation of having a bad wheel bearing, R1R also not too bad.
The TW or thread wear rating is just part of a bigger picture of how grippy the tire is. Those numbers are manufacture claim and manufacturer can change them without even changing the compound formula or maybe just small tweak for the sake of testing. Tires like AD08R, Direzza Z2 Star Spec (currently Z3 TW200), R1R, Federal 595RSRR, Hankook RS3 (currently RS4 TW200)..etc used to be TW 200 below but now they have like standardised to all bear TW200 but the grip was still the same as before. Is because now a lot of grassroot events or in the states SCCA events limits street class to tires rating of min TW200 so tires manufacturers like want in on a piece of the business cake and don't want to be left out. Like WRL they states TW180 and higher tires is required.
