Nola..disagree with the statement. VTEC and IDS-i is targetted to different audience, one aims for fuel econ one for performence. Some more, VTEC seems like limited to 150 units only. Even if it's true, it doesn't have anything to do with the engine also. VTEC also using the same gear box as IDS-i model, if not mistaken, it's the stageless CVT or i'm mistaken?
Gen-2 is lotus tuned while Toyota is famous for reliable, this one u might need some other ppl to answer you already.
thats the limited edition model you're talking about, the VTEC honda City has been available for more than half a year now iirc. Just like the VTEC Jazz, the City has a few more things than just a different engine, most obvious is the rear disc brake instead of drums on the i-dsi. And yes, all City's and Jazz's share the same stageless CVT transmisision.
As for jentu vs kia spectra vs vios?
Spectra shouldn't even be on the list because just like the Accent, it's an even bigger piece of shit than most Proton's :p.
Vios if you can afford it is the best car in this group, but Gen2 has highest price-to-performance/satisfaction ratio i think, if you discount the little knick knacks of QC that proton is famous for :P. But you're paying what, 20 grand less anyway?
Either way i'm not a fan of either cars interior, i figure you spend a lot of time INSIDE a car everday you should be comfortable in the interior, and if you compared the plastics and overall interior design, the City is a much better car. You only have to get used to the eccentric design on the outside hehe. The interior of the gen2 has been such a deal breaker that I was considering buying it until I sat in it and drove a gen2 a few times and realized I really can't stand the interior :P. might just get another Waja in the family :-\.
