Need some help on buying a new car for my sister once she gets her driving license. One of the main criteria that she wants on her first car is that it must have a "MANUAL TRANSMISSION". Her reason for wanting a car with manual gearbox, don't want parents and elder sisters to drive it since they can only drive auto.

So far these are the cars & models I could think that are okay for my sister to start with. Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard, Perodua Myvi 1.5 SE or Proton Iriz 1.3 Executive.

Got no issues with Perodua cars since I handle the maintenance for my company cars and so far the only problem it had was the window switches.

Any problems with Proton Iriz besides the power-window issue.

If wana get a myvi, get the 1.5 variant. More powerful and joyful to drive.

On paper, the iriz is better in every aspect. But reliability is not proven yet since it is very new

Iriz 1.3 is safer (on paper) than the Myvi equivalent. Newbie driver better to get her the safer car.

The better car is the Iriz. Under powered.
The one easier to live with, and by far, is Myvi. Get the 1.5L

Abundant and cheap spare parts. Simple car.

Safety wise Iriz is better. Since the sister is a new driver, better to have all the extra airbags

Would choose the Myvi since I know some of the staff at the nearby service center which makes it easier to send the car for service and warranty issues. Now, I just have to wait on my sister's decision.

Respect your sister for this.

I think if you are going for power, then Myvi 1.5 is the one to go. If handling, go for Iriz 1.3... If you want power and handling, maybe Iriz 1.6 MT?

I drive both (1.3 version) and would never touch myvi anymore...
Iriz far superior...

not sure how 1.5 Myvi vs 1.6 Iriz though....

As far as driving simulators go, Red Bull’s racing simulator mops the floor with almost anything else available to the general public. Gran Turismo 5 might be all the hype now, but when the men step up to show the boys how it’s done, GT5 just wouldn’t cut it.

Recently, David Coulthard and Jason Plato had a go on the Red Bull sim. They might...
