Wolfsburg might not be pumping out anymore Mk4 VW Golf R32’s but that by no means signals the end of aftermarket options for the hatch. German tuning specialists MTE have taken their tuning stick and beaten the Golf R32 Mk4 to the tune of 790hp and 1,200Nm of torque.
Conveniently, the resultant bruises have settled in a wild military-theme to make no qualms about the car’s ambitions.
The R32 BiTurbo2 as it has been officially christened pushes out the insane power courtesy of a pair of Garrett turbos with intercoolers, a custom exhaust system, strengthened internals and of course a recalibrated ECU to squeeze out every last ounce of power. All in all, the enhancements have netted MTE 50 more horses than their previous and obviously named Golf R32 BiTurbo1.
Performance figures reads an impressive 10.7-seconds on the quarter mile at 216km/h.
Reigning in all those ballistic ponies would have made metallic oatmeal of the transmission so a revised gearbox was thrown in as well with a high-performance brake system, essential once you’ve reached a corner. Taking you through that corner would be 18-inch wheels shod with semi-slick tyres for that riding on rails effect.
