It has been a long and arduous process for McLaren to get their MP4-12C supercar into production but that time has finally arrived and while Chassis 01 isn’t quite 100 per cent, it’s done up enough for the team’s Formula One drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to put it through its paces.

McLaren plan to build another 999 of the MP4-12C for this year. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 that pumps out a very respectable 600hp and 600Nm of torque. While various prototypes have been put through their paces around the world, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed and a very snow-covered Top Gear test track, the production of Chassis 01 marks a sweet end for the development and testing stage.

One thing that really stands out from the video is the deep growl of the V8 that is very different from other V8s that we have heard. You’ll also notice the power-assisted rear spoiler that doubles up as an air-brake and the blistering acceleration of the car.

It had a previous detailing job somewhere and a few visits to local car washes. It had sanding marks inflicted but not removed and holograms all over resulting from wrong machining techniques/ aggressive products and pads on a notoriously soft factory black Honda paint, Nighthawk Black...
