Federal Auto Holdings Bhd, one of the most established automotive companies in Malaysia, has opened the flagship showroom for renowned German tuning specialist brand, ABT, at Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
ABT Sportsline of Germany, with an illustrious history in motor racing and a track record spanning five decades, is the world’s leading tuner of Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.
The 12,000 square feet state-of-the-art showroom, which costs more than RM1 million and is fully compliant with ABT’s corporate identity, is the largest in Asia.
The ABT flagship showroom stocks the latest body kits and accessories for Audi and Volkswagen cars, especially the popular Golf Mk VI and Scirocco. Its spacious interior can accommodate up to 10 units of display cars and specifically designed to allow customers to view the ABT-tuned cars and a wide selection of accessories in comfort
The Glenmarie showroom is the first ABT showroom to be officially opened by Federal Auto under its wholly-owned subsidiary, Federal Auto Sports Tuning Sdn Bhd (FAST). The company will be opening another showroom at Petaling Jaya this year and at least two more, in Penang and Johor Bahru, by end of 2011.
FAST was appointed the exclusive distributor for ABT products in Malaysia in March 2010.
In addition to strategically located and easily accessible branches, FAST aims to work closely with other Volkswagen dealers and major accessories shops to offer one-stop convenience to customers seeking to maximise the performance of their vehicles.
According to Federal Auto managing director Cheng Seng Fook, the partnership with a premium brand like ABT was part of the company’s multi-brand strategy and would enable it to tap into the fast growing market for sports tuning and after-market accessories.
“We believe that there is tremendous market potential due to growing consumer affluence and the increasing popularity of the Volkswagen and Audi brands here in Malaysia. We are naturally proud to be recognised by a global brand such as ABT as an exclusive partner,” he said.
ABT Sportsline managing director Hans-Jürgen Abt said that the company was delighted to be working closely with another 50-year old company with a sterling track record in Federal Auto.

ABT’s famed chip tuning technology, developed from the company’s long involvement in professional motor racing, significantly boosts engine power without increasing carbon dioxide emissions while offering reduced fuel consumption. In the Golf GTi Mk VI, ABT is able to upgrade the engine’s maximum power output from 210 bhp to 260 bhp and torque from 280 Nm to 360 Nm.
Made from high quality polyurethane, ABT’s custom-made body parts are designed to enhance a vehicle’s aerodynamics and ensure that it stands out from the crowd. Each part is fabricated to attach precisely to the vehicle’s original attachment points for perfect fit.
