Adian & I are leaning to mandatory, but we highly reccomend suits. Not necessary FIA suits.

There's a Driver Parade, with chicks and all coming... I'm sure you WANT to have the Racing Driver look, right? Chicks dig racers man. muaahahaha!!

Anyway not expecting FIA level, just any racing suit is good already.
