Auto Gear Box Problem

I am having a rexton 2.9 diesel auto. I am having problem with the gear box. It seems that the gear is reluctant to change to no 4 when i was driving about 120km/h. I can c that the rpm shows 4000+ and can hear that the sound of engine are different. And as i get the rpm to 3000 the gear will change to 4 and sometimes as i break the gear like changing to a lower probably gear 1 or gear 2. Somtimes the car jerk as well when it change gear. Can anyone tell me what is the problem and please recommend me a reliable mechanic.

have u tried flushing the ATF 1st? just wondering is there a valve body on a rexton?

The mechanic have done it but seems to be the same. I just wan to know should i change the whole gear box or just change the defect on parts.

get a quotation to overhaul your gbox vs recond gbox at a specialist vs halfcut ones.

not really anyways, u could check out yellow pages or motor trader section for gearbox
specialist, get the 1 near your house for easier follow up.

get a copy of motor trader, at the rear, there are many recon gearbox specialists with adverts there ... there should be one near your place. Get a quote from them before deciding to live with it or change the gearbox ...

btw have you brought your car to a mechanic to have a look ? could it be some other fault ?
