The legendary Quattro all-wheel drive system has found itself under the chassis of most of the rapidly expanding Audi range with one major exception, the nimble A1, that is sadly only available with motivation to its front wheels.<b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b><b></b>
That could be about to change however if the A1 Clubsport Quattro concept is anything to go by. The little beast packs a monstrous 2.5-liter direct-injected straight-five that has been highly built to push out just a shade under 500hp that will find their way to all four wheels through a proper six-speed manual transmission.
With all that tech underneath, Audi’s claims of a century sprint in 3.7-seconds is probably underestimating it. It will continue on to 200km/h in 10.9-seconds before hitting the electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
The exterior packs an equally impressive punch that the powertrain delivers by means of a roundhouse kick. An aggressive wide body kit that incorporates aerodynamic influences surrounds the exterior trim and is swathed in a coat of matte white. A carbon fiber roof keeps the center of gravity lower. Side-exit exhausts and 19-inch turbine-design alloy wheels complete the look.
You better keep it in your pants though as the production of the A1 Quattro, S1 or RS1 will probably not pack anything close to the concept but in the mean time, we’re allowed to spank one out and dream.
