There you go, folks. Proton has announced that the new Proton Persona which is set to be unveiled this Aug 23, is now open for booking, subject to a booking fee of RM300 (refundable).

Other than being a national car, the Proton Persona has gathered hype lately, probably due to the launching timing that is not too long after Perodua's first ever sedan, the Bezza, and due to the pricing of the two cars which are expected to be in the same range. The two cars however are not in the same segment, where the Bezza is a A-segment car while the Persona is going to be in B-segment.

Powertrain wise, the new Proton Persona will be powered by a 1.6-litre VVT engine, producing 107hp and 150Nm of torque. The new Persona is also the first Proton car to feature Eco Drive Assist indicator.

The new Persona is equipped with advanced safety features, together with Proton's "signature ride and handling". 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating across all variants, 6 airbags (on Premium variant), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ESC, ISOFIX and top tether are among the safety equipment introduced.

At the same time, the 2nd generation Persona is said to posses greater sense of elegance and practicality. It will also pack a spacious interior, ergonomic seats and console layout in a bid to provide increased comfort. On top of that, the Persona will come with 510-litres of boot capacity.

The indicative price range for the all-new Persona is from RM47,000 to RM61,000 in Peninsular Malaysia and from RM49,000 to RM63,000 in East Malaysia. Offered in 3 variants; Standard, Executive and Premium, the new car is available in six colours - Cotton White, Fire Red, Sterling Silver, Graphite Grey, Quartz Black and a new colour, Carnelian Brown.

For those who place their booking by Sep 30 and in tandem with the Independence month, Proton is offering a 3-year free service package (parts and labour included) as the introductory offer.
