But now.. I think they are nice..especially in terms of reliability, comfort, and looks!

When I was younger, BMW oozed sex appeal with its M Sport cars, or even the plain jane with some M inspired bodywork, and Mercedes like the big-small eye E class, or the wide eye C class just looked.. UNCLE...

Now..

And speaking with owners of BMW, Audi, and Mercedes in Malaysia seems that Mercedes owners are the happiest overall.. and says not much problem, with BMW ones having the most issues..

Starting with the W203.. Mercedes looked more and more appealing...

Shit, am I turning into an uncle?

I never think Mercs is uncle's car. In my mind Mercs is rich people's car. Just so happens that most of those people are already in the uncle age range.
W124 is still one of my favorite Mercs, still like the way it looks even to this day.

Ya agree, in my mind Mercedes is Rich man's car.

C63 AMG no uncle has a heart as strong as that to control the beast

same with me. the statement of Mercedes is for rich people stuck in my mind :joyman:

Yeah, Merc does carry that uncle image with it since most rich uncle will go for Merc, not BMW, Audi it else. Maybe because BMW has this slightly sportier image befitting of a young executive instead of an old uncle.

I'm talking of the Merc you see on the road in Malaysia la..not all those AMG versions that you see in mags mostly...

I never really associate "rich" with Mercedes, maybe cause I see some uncle not really rich also go buy Mercedes, or maybe they rich but don't show it.

Seen Mercedes parked in a small single story house. I find that weird. But yeah, Mercedes recent offerings really getting attractive. So I'm not sure is it because I'm getting older or they getting better.

im a fan of ANY Merc... doesnt need to have this or that badges... the only badge that matters to me is the 3-point star.

the only Merc im not too keen on (but i still find it acceptable, and at times quite hawt) is the SLK...mainly bcoz my fav car is the SL and the SLK looks a lil weird being a smaller version heh.

But if buy new Mercs or even used by just <5yrs, surely got more money!

I think both!

These do not look too much like 'uncle' cars, right?

Rich Uncle can afford but cannot control.....
This Unker can control, but cannot afford it ......hahahahahahha:rofl:

you were wrong my friend, merc is like a symbol of rich. p/s, I don't mind to be called as uncle if I got the chance to own one hehe

MERC that were used by thief inside TAXI (france) movie change how I look at it.

Mercedes of old days, maybe...but definitely not now...

However, the most beautiful for me still the CLK GTR of 1998..

mb_clk_gtr2.jpg

Year 2000 model, selling for 1,490,000USD...thanks to stronger RM nowdays, it 'only' about RM4.5million before tax...
A bit depreciation from original selling price 1,547,620USD...see, a bargain considering the value of that amount at that time (add inflation)..

The model that change my perception towards UNCLE brand was the fifth generation SL500.

SL65 and AMG Black series Mercs for life!

But you're wrong to say Mercs don't have issues. I've got 2 friends both of whom curse their E-class (newest model) and C-class (also newest model) cars. Both have had their cars auto shutoff while cruising the highway. When this happens the steering locks up and brakes are somewhat useless. Thankfully in both cases they did manage to gradually stop the car and restart the car after a short break.

Not exactly confidence inspiring.

New models, full of electronic parts required more attention from the owner.
The older model such as Merc & Volvo are very reliable product.
Less problematic but "boleh tahan makan minyak..."

Anything about continental sure expensive...
"Wah... ini olang drive Mercedes...mari potong kepala harga"

Yup, too much electronics nowadays, don't know when they will f**k up.....
Heard if you jack up the car also need to reset or something....:hmmmm:

I'm sorry to say that when I was very young, I really have perspectives that Mercedes cars are for uncle..coz I don't see many young people driving one. I do agree to myself that at some point the design of merc isn't that sporty compared to BMW. Even Audi was abit squarish and dull. Now everything has changed, even my age sigh...
