Is it because it's hard to find parts and high fuel consumption?

My budget is around 9K.
Obviously I don't want a Kancil..

I was thinking of Daihatsu Charade around 1992,
but then there are many telstars Sedan, bigger, with power steerings and power windows..

So are telstars reliable?
How about ford laser?
Why are fords so cheap?

I'm not going to make heavy use.
Just driving from point A to B..
Do you recommend me ford?

9k.. buy ke70 and fix it..

enough to go from a to b, and very reliable.

is that corolla?
with 9k, i can only get rust-bucket corolla which is older than i am..
i hate rusts.
looks do matter to me to some extent

not really... 5k is going to get you a rust bucket, 9k can get you a decent one already.. if you look hard enough.

simple cars, not much of break down problems. perhaps it'll be a hass to source parts.

Guys, the availability of parts is not totally becoz of the Brand, but rather the specific model.

Starlet EP82 turbo great pocket rocket oso.

hey dude whats is your others requirement other than 'getting from point A to B'.u shuld consider oso maintenance & parts coz old car can give u a lot of headache.y don u use 1k from your budget for kenari/kelisa downpayment & the rest is for simple mods (e.g tinted,14inch rim, mild exhaust 'sound' & 'not overdress' skirt+lips) and u'll be proud of it

jz my another 5cent opinion :_:

Maintainance is not a problem for me..i guess..
But I don't want any breakdown and get stranded on a deserted highway..

good old proton saga is good too. damn tough car and pretty reliable. can find a decent one for abt 5k. The steel bumper is damn solid. When langgar with proton Wira, the Wira's bumper will fall off while the saga's bumper just suffer minor paint scratch!!!!

With RM9k, why not get a Proton Iswara which is kinda bullet-proof technology (since you don't have too high-tech stuff to worry about) and also lasting. You can update the looks easily via the new model bumpers or after-market add-ons. I've tried many cars but honestly, for all it's worth, Iswaras are a good and easy-to-maintain model!

Alternatively, go for a big bike! You have the looks and the fuel economy; glamour and style... minus the traffic jam. I have a Kawasaki easyrider- 250cc Eliminator but beautifully modified to a 800cc Vulcan Classic easyrider. Recently painted and overhauled too. Invested RM5k in the bike this year, and if you're interested you may end up with a fair bargain for just RM6k. Hehe...

Daihatsu Charade 1992 should be able to satisfy your criteria with less hassle on the engine parts (because it's simple) and also good to drive, compare to a kancil.

get urself a ford, 2 door tx3. for about 9k, you can get a moderately well maintained one. i myself drive one and what i can tell you is find urself an honest a reliable mechanic. don't worry about spare parts, its fully avai (of course don compare with newer cars).
fords/mazdas are very reliable cars and built to last. if you wan to unleash he speed demon in you, transplant to a B8 turbo. i've been driving my 1990 ford since 1994 and till now no major problems.

good luck

mazda and ford's parts are not really hard to get.
Only the aftermarket performance parts is hard to source for our old cars....
Parts are readily available in chop shops and also spare part shops.
I always asked my spare part friend to get for me my parts...
and obviously, price is slightly expensive if ur going for original parts as compared to Taiwan/Thailand or China OEM parts.

btw, usually my oil filter I'm using Mits' oil filter which fits nicely.

Guys are you sure Saga is that reliable?

Anyway, is it true that Ford lasers are Japanese fords and thus more reliable?

So I have 3 choices for my final decision..
1. Daihatsu Charde 1992 1.0 M
2. Ford laser or Telstar around 1991
3. Proton Saga 1992,1993

What do you say?

What are the pros and cons among them?
Could you please make a comparison in terms of durability, fuel efficiency, maintance, smoothness..and etc.
Thanks all bros!

You know when cars are sprayed Black, I noticed there are differences, some look black..some look real black..some look deep black..some look deep metallic black..is it actually all the same black or there are different kinds of black? (Sorry i'm a little dumb) And if there is a particular black that is the blackest and the slickest and most metallic, what is it? Or, is there any way to make a normal black, lets say..Perdana Metallic Black into a super slick deep dark metallic black (like...
