Hamann Motorsports, an entity highly popular among BMW enthusiasts founded in the 1980s was tuning German bahn burners before proceeding to motorsports where Richard has most active in, finished over 700 races ranging from the Group Cs, DTM and Formula 3 and eventually enjoyed over 100 victories.
In the BMW M1 procar was where he really shone with 3 victories in a row in the Special Touring Car Trophy. This is testament to Richard Hamann's unrelentless passion for Motorsports inspired by his interest in tuning Bavarian Metal in all forms.
Only up till recently that Hamann Motorsports started to diversify into other european performance cars namely Ferraris, Mercedes, Lamborghinis and not forgetting the Mclaren Mercedes SLR.
53 year old Richard passed away on Thursday 17th of March 2011 due to a severe lung disease. It is a huge loss to Hamann Motorsports and will be felt all across the European tuning scene.
