It isn’t officially due till the Geneva Motor Show in March, but these leaked pictures are confirmed to be the all new BMW M3 Cabriolet.
The new cabrio is reported to be the first to feature BMW’s all new 7-speed twin clutch transmission called “M DKG” and word is, it is very similar to VW’s six speed DSG transmission. The system uses 2 computer-controlled switches to quicken and smoothen shifts. It is reported that the century sprint is completed in a very unsporty 5.3 seconds which is 0.4 seconds slower than the coupe. Understandably due to the extra weight of the retractable roof.
Zero to hundred in 5.3 seconds? Common BMW, the aged Audi RS4 Cabrio did it in 4.9 seconds. Not to say that we would actually feel the difference, but it doesn’t help with bragging rights and what about traffic light drags? What happens then? Loosing by quarter or half a car is still loosing.
