JDM Civic and Local Civic

How can we differentiate a JDM and a local civic for Civic 96 onwards?

1.Blue Tag stated with EKX-XXXXX on the front panel (must open ur hood).
2.Chasis no on the firewall oso stated with EKX-XXXXXX
3.JDM EK 4 Door Radio Antenna is on top of ur roof (like wira), Local EJ radio antenna at rear body (left side)
4.JDM model normally EK3, EK4, EK5 n EK9.

- most jdm civic u can find in kedai potong (front half or rear half) compared to on the road i think
- JDM EK spec 99 is rare (try hunting embassy cars). even got EK coupe
- JDM EK can eksyen a bit heheh
- JDM EK speedometer 180km/h only
- JDM EK with dual airbag got japanese 'warning' on sun visors
- JDM EK got no KAH motor aircond (have to open hood)
- JDM EK got all ASAHI front n rear windscreens, windowpanes

just my 2 sen... EK sifus don't tembak me

Thanks a lot. coz i am planning to get a JDM EK3 so i need to know what to look for..
Does all JDM come with B series engine?

nope. only with EK4 or EK9...
EK3 normally comes with D15B 3 stage vtec

I think most of the car today all comes with Sun Visor, the only thing optional is the door visor which alvon is refering to I guess.

local ej = lining is chrome shining..

dis lining are costly. some local ej if wan JDM looking, either they spray it [rm4 a spray tin] or wrap wit sticker!..

asahi is the oem brand of the windscreen front and rear as well as the windowpanes.

u can have auto B series also. to convert to manual from auto... i guess better find a manual stret away la

rims pun asahi if stock oem.

It's not quite right by judging that since some top model of the JDM EK also comes with chrome mouldings.

the star sticker on the rear windscreen refers to the emission level of the car. the more the star u see the more environ-friendly the car is. correct me if i'm wrong. then for jdm cars there is this sticker with a 'cartoon' car with some jap words. this sticker is made of paper and then a plastic sticker covers this sticker. really hard to peel this one off.

has this sticker on my rear windscreen and now gone since i'm not using that windscreen anymore. tried to peel it off... no success

for asahi.. it is in fact the oem brand. physically or visually no difference between asahi and MS windscreen but if u have asahi then deep inside you know that you've got JDM bro heheh.

asahi rims pictures... well there are lots of asahi rims... DC5 rims are asahi rims, i think EK4 rims are asahi rims also.

hattech: how much does it cost to convert to a B16A engine?

Depends on whether u wanna get da EG or EK b16a. EK series would b a direct plug n play for everything. U can even get a b16b if u hav da budget. The price for the EK4 halfcut is around RM7K~8K last check was few months back. Installation cost for da engine would b around RM1K ~1.5K. And hav to spare some for changing wear n tear parts like timing belt, spark plugs, hoses(if those hoses r in bad shape), engine oils, oil fiter, seals and etc. Should around RM500 ~ 1K. Depends on the wear n parts ya getting. And also u hav to pay da runner to get ur car register at JPJ again. That runner cost would vary frm few hundreds. So total cost for the conversion should b 10K.

P/S: to all da otais out there, correct me if i'm wrong. hehehe.
